Happy 4th of July!! The days, weeks and months are just flying by!! Hopefully we're all staying cool and collected in the heat. ;)

I'm 34.5 weeks and hanging in there. Fatigue has plagued me once again but I'm getting excited!! And nervous... We had our hospital tour on Tuesday (not much has changed in 16 months ;)) and it sent me into panic mode. Heck, I didn't even remember to create a birth plan, let alone bring one. :o I have minimal clothes not even washed, and have yet to pick up our bassinet from the IL's, bought diapers or anything. Baby N won't even have a nursery until this fall because my parents have been using the guest room when they've been in town staying with us.

But all of my tests (EFW, NST, etc) / acronyms came out just fine so I got to move back to the 2 wk schedule again until my next appt. I will have the Group B Strep test and then be weekly. When I had NJ, my labor went so quick I couldn't even get an IV, let alone the antibiotic so I hope it's negative and I won't even have to worry. Other than that, all seems fine. Some days I think we have an all day game of twister going on and others it's minimal movement (which still freaks me out).

Hope everyone else is well!

still just barely keeping my head above water here after the big move mid month... so much cleaning, unpacking, and organizing to do. haven't even had a chance to get all (well ANY) of the baby stuff out yet... we are supposed to have clothes washed?? with all the lifting and bending and cleaning I am doing, who knows, the baby may decide to come early. people keep telling me not to overextend myself, but I really have no help (my husband is crazy busy at work and when he isn't at work he is doing all sorts of fixit jobs around the house -- house was in foreclosure), so there is no choice.

all is well with the pregnancy though. I am just a few days away from being full term (37 weeks) so that is good to know. I really don't expect to go early (I have always been pretty much right on time) but it will be nice to have that 37 weeks under my belt, just the same.

I am starting with the weekly appointments now...
that's it for now. hope everyone is doing well.

Hopefully I will meet my baby boy soon!!

ah bridget, I saw your post and was hoping for a baby report...
oh well. hopefully you will go naturally and they won't get overly anxious for induction. good luck!

my doctor appt today was uneventful... had my strep B test. I have lost about a pound in the last month (instead of gaining as I should be!!) but I chalk that up to all the work I have been doing and the heat we have been having (kills the appetite). I was told to eat more! always nice to hear that. plus the nurse didn't seem too concerned. I will see the doctor (finally!!) next week so we will see what she has to say.

Looking forward to Bridget's baby report too! :)
Not much happening here for me at 34 weeks. Just had a little vacation in WI with the extended family (IL's) which was nice. 5+ hours in the car each way not so nice though...I was feeling mighty pregnant!! Luckily the 2 and 4 yr olds had to stop and pee just as much as me, so I wasn't alone. :D

I am having a disgustingly healthy pregnancy..I feel very blessed. Fingers are a bit swollen and my back does not appreciate hauling this belly around, but all minor in the big scheme of things. I have an ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks when they will gauge the size of the baby and probably start pestering me about the C-section which I hope to avoid. (Recall the whole shoulder dsytocia issue...)

Talk soon,
Terri

Oh, I too was hoping for a baby update from Bridget. Thinking of you!

Not much here, crazy busy house-hunting, getting our house ready to list, working while trying to wrangle my 2 year old, etc. I am 24 weeks and so far everything is uneventful. I've gained a total of 10 lbs this pregnancy....all in the last month....DR not concerned but I sure am.....seems that after my 1st Trimester of constant puking I made up for lost time! I have my glucose test in 4 weeks and another appt then I'll move to the every 2 week schedule. I feel like I am huge already....cannot imagine what I'll look like in October.

Hope all are well.

another one hoping for news from Bridget...

we had our first little drama of the pregnancy, but everything is OK. I started having cramping while on vacation on Cape Cod, so I got put on modified bedrest until I could get to MFM to see what is actually going on. My cervix had shortened a little, but that could be normal at this stage of the game - 32 weeks 4 days - so I've now been told to "take it easy" and drink a lot of water and hope that the cramping doesn't turn into something more.

The munchkin is measuring about 2 weeks ahead and is estimated at 5 pounds - I'm very happy that he's big since he's coming early and we know it's a c-section so there's no concern about him being too big.
I had my favorite u/s tech today and she pulled out the 3D - it was better on the screen there than in the printouts but I'm posting them here anyway because I think they're cool!

other than that, everything is as OK as it can be for someone who is 8 months pregnant in record high temperatures. DH says my feet look like muppets and I shouldn't bother getting a pedicure.

That sounds like good news. 5 pounds already wow!

26 weeks here, I went in this morning for my glucose test. Such fun. I have gained almost as much weight in the past month as I did during the previous 5 -- kind of hoping some of that is water retention in this weather, as opposed to being all ice cream. I gained 40 lbs both other times, though, so no surprise if I do it again. Measuring right on target. Only problem right now is the heat -- I keep sweating my band-aid off.

Now thinking about post-baby birth control. My midwife is very keen on the new IUDs, but for some reason the idea of having something stuck in there kind of freaks me out. Also, DH's cousin was born despite one. :) Thinking of going permanent, but then have to figure out when to do it.

We are moving in 2 weeks! I am excited. Before then have to do something for DD's birthday. And a lot of packing still.

We should have some babies around here in the next few weeks right? I'm counting Bridget, Val Candace, Nancy and Terry. Good luck all!

Things are fine here. My results from the NT initially came back not so great but then it turned out they had added 6 years to my age, so all is well now.

Other than that I'm just trying to remember to eat in the terrible heat wave.

Candace -- Muppet feet made me laugh. I say go for the pedicure anyway!

I can't believe I have 12 more weeks of this. We had DD's 6th birthday party last night, and even though I didn't do anything (we had it at Pump It Up) it was exhausting. We are moving on Thursday. Spent most of the weekend furniture shopping, and every spare moment is being devoted to packing.

I am at the stage where I can see random moving bits and bumps on occasion, which gives me something to do during dull meetings. OTOH, this is also the point at which all manner of random strangers feel free to ask about my pregnancy.

Oh Val....are you around???? :D

To all you ladies moving so late in your pregancy, I cannot imagine! I thought it was rough during the first trimester... hang in there and try to stay cool. We're in the hundreds this week with 90% humidity and it is HOOOOTTT!!!

Teri, how was the u/s? Any word yet on the C-section?

Here's my delayed report from last week's appointment - All seems well with baby. I'm measuring 1 cm off again but she's not concerned until I hit 2. With me being consistently on and off again with the measurements, she's chalking it up to positioning so I'm knocking on wood. I have had excruciating headaches throughout this entire pregnancy (but I did with Nick and Natalie as well). They had me on a prescription for the majority of the time. Well, I went to refill it and my midwife had to ok it with an OB (which was my former). All of a sudden a red-flag was raised. I have a pituitary adenoma (aka a brain tumor) that was discovered 4 years ago and the OB/MW were concerned it may be growing (there's no standard monitoring procedure so I just haven't :o). So they got me into a CT scan the next morning. Guess what, they were right. So tomorrow I see the MW again in the morning, followed by a neurosurgeon in the afternoon. I guess there's concern with how much it's grown and if I now can deliver vaginally because of occular pressure, blah blah (stuff I really haven't been explained yet). :( So I'm now hoping for good news tomorrow. I'm assuming they'll get me in for an MRI asap for a better look.

In the mean time I was up from 1:30 to 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning with contractions, coming 8 minutes apart regularly. After lots of water and a long soak in the bath they went away. It just scared me to death b/c I still hadn't seen the neuro yet, not to mention I STILL hadn't picked up the bassinet or washed clothes (accomplished that one last night, woohoo!) I think I'll feel better after tomorrow's appointments...

Enough rambling.... how's everyone else?

valchemist
07-20-2010, 02:48 PM
yeah, I am here... thanks rebecca for bumping this thread back up. we've all been quiet.

wow, nancy. that is real drama, for sure. I hope you get all good news. you seem to be having one issue after another after another!

yes, I am happy to have the move behind me now that I am just days away from delivery. the house isn't finished (lots of repairs yet to go) but at least I feel settled here.

I just got through kate's 5th birthday party (yes, rebecca, those parties can be exhausting!). we had a family one and one with kate's friends. so I had to make two cakes, etc... all went well. I kept putting off baby preparations til after the birthday.

so as soon as it was over I went to work -- got the "gear" out, washed associated covers etc... even bought a new tub (I had just used a bath sling in the past with the other 3 kids but I am going to try out a little tub for this last baby. never had a problem with the sling, but I was feeling like I needed something new!). and just yesterday, I finally started locating and washing gender neutral baby clothes. now all that is left to do is to pack my hospital bag. that never seems to get done til a couple days before delivery.

Hi all. Wow, Nancy, I am thinking good thoughts for you. Give us an update after today!
Val, of course I am on baby watch for you! :)
Things are good here. Baby is estimated at "only about 7 lbs" at 36 weeks, which is the big side of average but not off the charts, which bodes well for me not having a c-section. Hoping she might be born before the due date, which will help my cause. Yesterday I was dilated a fingertip, but that doesn't mean much at this point.
Keep in touch, everyone!

Goodness, Nancy, I hope your next update is less exciting. Fingers crossed that they'll have some good news.

We are all moved in to the new place! Now all that's left is to unpack a thousand-odd books, figure out where to put everything, wait for furniture to be delivered, and prepare to have this baby. I gave up on sleeping around 3:30 this morning. Wish I remember where we packed the TUMS.

Hope everyone is feeling well.

Wow Nancy, I hope you got good news at the appointment, and some answers.

Good luck to everyone in the process of moving. We went to the Cape for 5 days and I could barely manage that packing so I can only imagine moving everything!

BB -- It was just a typo that made them add 6 years to my age.

I am having a ton of trouble breathing, mostly in the mornings. I'm hoping the doctor will say it's just the heat, but I'm worried for my appointment today. Meanwhile the boss is acting cranky because I want to work from home before and after my appointment. Don't you think the inability to breathe is a good reason even if I was just off Mon-Wed?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sounds like a good reason to me!

Moving while pregnant... I don't recommend it. 6 hours yesterday cleaning the old place -- scrubbing every surface in the kitchen, cleaning crayon off the walls, dragging a carpet cleaner around... I am going to be exhausted for days. I am hoping to finish getting the new kitchen sorted out today, and looking forward to going to work tomorrow. I get to sit down all day there. :)

back from my 39 1/2 week appt...

I am 2 cm dilated now, which doesn't mean much of course. but the bigger news is that the DR stripped my membranes without asking me. what the heck?? had she asked, the answer would have been an emphatic no. turns out it was a miscommunication between the nurse (who has seen me all along) and me and the doctor (who has hardly seem me at all). basically, the nurse thought I wanted to get things moving because I am paying for all of this and she figured if I went early I would avoid paying for a second ultrasound and NST's etc. Truth is, of course, I would like to avoid all that, but that doesn't mean I want my membranes stripped. also, the DR thought I wanted to be induced (again, a miscommunication) so she was going to schedule me to come in wed night (night before my due date). I said I wasn't interested... she was totally fine with that... she just thought that was what I wanted.

oh well, what is done is done. anyway, the membrane stripping was the pits (it hurt) and I have been VERY uncomfortable ever since then. no contractions or signs of labor... just uncomfortable given what she DID to me. ugh.

TLee4
07-27-2010, 11:47 AM
Val, I told my doctor today what your doctor did. She agreed that it wasn't nice! Especially since it IS an uncomfortable procedure.

Had my 37 week check-up. She gave me the option to check my cervix and being nosy, of course I said yes. Dilated 1 cm. Baby still pretty high and cervix long, so probably nothing imminient happening.

One of our sitters is on vacation til NEXT weekend, so I'd just as soon hold off until she is back..not sure how much back-up I'll need for the boys.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Terri

feeling much better today...
I felt like the baby was going to come at any time due to all of my discomfort yesterday. but I think that is just typical in the immediate aftermath of membrane stripping (the discomfort).

anyway, no signs of labor today so I took the kids to a waterpark. I've got get them out and about now since there will be a week or so where we won't be going much of anywhere (after the baby is born).

07-27-2010, 03:21 PM
Wow Val, I'd be saying WTH at that point! I'm happy to hear you are at least feeling better today, but I'd still be irritated none the less... Sounds like there was too many assumptions going on yesterday - or people not listening. I'm still waiting for the announcement everytime I see you post!

So I assumed right at the appointment with the neurosurgeon. I had an MRI the following morning. They also had to do it with the contrast and I was so hesitant and upset about it. While no studies have shown any fetal harm this far along, the procedure hasn't been around long enough for any of the studies to be conclusive. The jist of it all is the tumor has grown but doesn't seem to be effecting anything at this point (no excessive pressure or hormonal imbalance) so I'm given the green light and just to follow up next year. Woohoo! Hopefully all the drama is behind me and I have a VERY uneventful delivery. :) I'm 38 today and have an appt with the MW tomorrow afternoon. It's crazy how nervous and excited I still am, third time around. I'm just so tired these days. I have no issue falling alseep, it's staying asleep. I toss and turn and really, I don't need any practice with sleep deprivation at this point!! ;)

same here the 4th time around. can't believe it is happening in the next few days!!! this stuff just never gets old... I love every minute of the whole labor/delivery thing (as scary and painful as it can be, at times). it is one of those things I happily re-live in my mind weeks and months after it happens. Wow, Val. I've been thinking a lot about my second, but mainly the fact that halfway through pushing I snarled at my husband that I was never going to do this again! :)

Glad to hear the good news Nancy.

valchemist
07-28-2010, 04:16 AM
well, plenty of people give birth with no epi/drugs. I think it is pretty common. whether it is by choice or, as you alluded to, simply because the baby comes to quickly to get the epidural.

anyway, I know (recall from last time) rebecca didn't have an epi either. maybe that explains the snarling. ha ha.

I am usually kind of scared/focused during my pushing so I don't bother the nurses or my husband (assuming he is there, which he isn't always since sometimes he has been with the kids). but I can certainly see why you may make a promise to never have another right in the middle of pushing!!

veschke
07-28-2010, 05:15 AM
I think everyone reacts a little differently to the experience. I get really cranky. :) Pity the labor nurses.

I didn't have an epi with either one. One intravenous dose of something or other got me through transition with my first after a long, slow, back labor (she was posterior for the longest time). Weird experience. With my second there wouldn't have been time even if I'd wanted one.

Someone at work yesterday asked if the nursery was all set up yet. Um, I moved less than a WEEK ago. The baby's room is still full of boxes. Maybe I'll make some progress this weekend while my mom is in town. (Poor woman drives 500 miles to see her grandchildren and I plan to put her to work.)

11 weeks to go. Take care in the heat, everyone! This has been a wicked summer to be pregnant.

Good luck Val! Hopefully you can avoid that test (when I had them it was nice because it just involved sitting in a chair drinking juice but I'm sure they cost billions without insurance).

The breathing issue turned out to be my blood pressure dropping too low in the mornings, mostly in the shower. So now I have to eat a big breakfast before taking a mostly cold shower. Not much fun, but do-able. It's ironic because they've really been on me to keep my blood pressure low and not gain weight too fast since I had issues last time. I guess I was doing too good of a job! I also got told to eat more in general which is always nice to hear.

Nancy, I'm so glad things turned out okay. Here's to a drama free rest of your pregnancy.

Finally some news from me!

Baby Nicole Claire arrived on August 1st at 12:18 am. She was my littlest baby!! 8 lbs 13 oz and 21 1/4 inches.

Won't go into the whole labor story now as we just got in the door, but things went well overall. We got to the hospital at 9:15 pm and I was only 3-4 cm dilated... I wanted to be sure we didn't get there too late, so as a result, we ended up getting there a little too early. oh well. but still, it wasn't THAT early since she was born 3 hours later. I didn't need an episiotomy and I didn't tear at all so the recovery is going to be easy. hooray!
