I need to lose weight & get in shape, but I refuse to spend any more money on Weight Watchers or to try fad diets. I want to lose it the healthy way...eating a healthy, flavorful, exciting diet (ie Cooking Light recipes) coupled with exercise. I'd like to establish some type of small, intimate e-mail support system of men/women in the same boat. We could provide each other with ideas, support, guidance, etc. I'm a 34 year old stay-at-home mom of an 11 month old daughter. I'm interested in cooking more recipes from CL & making weight loss fun instead of tedious & frustrating. Anyone interested???

Hi Jenny!

I would be interested. I am trying not to loose weight so much as lower my body fat, get in better shape, and overcome some of my never ending obstacles to eating well (I have such a total sweet tooth!).

And good for you on giving up the fad diets. They don't work! Making lifestyle changes is the only thing that got me to where I am now (I used to weigh 15 pounds more...which doesn't sound like much but to me it was so terrible).

Hi JennyFal,

I'm not sure if this would be what you are looking for, but we have an "HLSG" thread that we post every week here where we check in and do a lot of what you're talking about. Now, this is posted on a public board, so if it's support with some privacy you're looking for, then this would probably not work for you :) , but if it's mostly support you're looking for, then please join us! It's been a great source of information and inspiration for me and many others. Good luck!

Hi Jenny,

I too, would be interested in this. I'm also in my mid thirties and need to shed a few pounds (okay... a few more than a few. :) ). I'm doing the Weight Watcher thing, but find that the boost I get from my meeting doesn't always last until the next one. I'm single and live alone, so I'm also interested in learning to use CL recipes and "convert" them as the week goes on into new and interestsing dishes. Let me know how to get involved.

Okay... I'm new here and I'll bite -- I've seen this thread and I'm curious about the acronym... what does HLSG stand for? Healthy Lifestyle what? :)

Oh, HLSG was my very, very imaginative ;) acronym to flag our weekly "meeting" and it stands for Healthy Living Support Group.

I would encourage all of you to join in on our HLSG threads. I know that they have been enormously helpful to me as I have been changing my lifestyle and losing weight. I look forward to it all week long. I check everyday.

Thanks for letting me know about the HLSG. I'm new to cookinglight.com (just started the BBs 2 days ago). I'm going to check it out and see if it's what I'm looking for. If not...I'll start a new thread to organize what I have in mind.
