I have small black ants in my kitchen and I am having problems eradicating them. I bought new ant traps 4 weeks ago and placed them all over the floor and counters, we sprayed the outside of the kitchen door with ant spray and we still have them. Every summer, when the ants appear, the traps usually work but this time the ants keep returning.
I made the cover recipe of the peach and blueberry dessert shown on September's issue and had it cooling on the stove while I was putting my girls to sleep. When I came down, the stove was swarming so I sprayed it with bleach, because I heard that they don't like bleach. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Robin
Sorry to hear about your ants.
I haven't tried the cover receipe yet, how did it turn out?

I think it was ok. I was so furious about the ants I just inhaled it. I think it was pretty bland. I really preferred the peach cobbler recipe with crust baked separate from August's issue under the section, meat and three .

Hi Robin,
Try these threads for some good ant advice:

Be very thankful they are the SMALL black ants - I just paid an exterminator big bucks to spray for the BIG black ants, which are carpenter ants! Guess that's what happens when you live in the woods  . Good luck!

Those ants are so annoying! They do love Peanut Butter though, so if you put a little in the traps it will attract them better. We had an infestation about a year and a half ago and I now have an exterminator come bimonthly. It took 2 months to get rid of them.

Two tips from other ant threads helped me get the ants off my porch--I squirted some liquid dish soap near where they were coming in and then sprinkled whole cloves around.
This worked!!
Ants are the only living thing that have ever invaded my kitchen/food area in the past 12 years. The traps usually attract more ants, but they all die eventually. This past winter, dead ants kept popping up all over the kitchen floor. I never found where they came from, although it seemed they were most concentrated in the sink and dishwasher area.
I would advise keeping the area vacuumed and wiping up all crumbs. I have become conditioned to scrutinizing the kitchen floors and counters for crumbs.
