Mike, have a look at THIS (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/guy-fieri/chinese-cheesecake-recipe/index.html) recipe for "Chinese Cheesecake" from Guy Fieri.
It's a similar idea.

What would happen if you boiled them very gently for a couple of minutes and then finished in a nonstick with clarified butter?

I remember backpacking in Europe and eating Nutella on fresh bread on many morning! Try it in place of peanut butter in a cookie recipe.
