First, let me say that after one bowl I am hooked. I don't know why I delayed trying these cereals for so long. (I was an All-Bran & Grape Nuts girl.) I just have to relate this story: I was evesdropping on my two girls who were fixing breakfast for themselves. They discovered the box of Kashi Crunch. I heard my six year old say with awe in her voice, "I think it's Captiain Crunch!" They proceeded to eat breakfast. When I asked them what they had, they told me "Daddy bought the best cereal. You should try some!" Needless to say, Daddy is the junk food guy and anything "unhealthy" in the house can be attributed to him. So they think they have Captain Crunch and in less than one week the box is gone. I think I've started something!

Cue "Twilight Zone" theme.
Nirak,
Hope you don't mind my piggybacking your message. I just logged on to ask a question about Kashi Go Lean Crunch!
I am one of the people who could not understand why so many people actually like Kashi Go Lean. I, too, just bought the Crunch version a few days ago and absolutely love it. Now I'm wondering if all the people who were raving about it were actually eating the Crunch version.
So all, which do you like:
1) Kashi Go Lean
2) Kashi Go Lean Crunch
3) Both

I love, love, love Kashi Go Lean Crunch. I've never tried Kashi Go Lean - is that the twig stuff? It just doesn't look appealing to me. The other one I like is the Kashi Puffs (lightly sweetened version), but they get soggy quickly, and I can't eat my cereal that fast! That's why I love the Crunch. It stays crunchy!!! :D :D :D

After all the talk on the BB about Kashi Go Lean, Crunch, and Good Friends I decided to try one. I really went to Fresh Fields hoping to get Go Lean, but they did have any left on the shelf so I got Good Friends. Well, in a word, Yuck. I'm all up for eating healthy and usually like healthy foods, but this tastes like tree twigs. I hope the next time I go they have Go Lean Crunch.

I think I must have tried the "puff" version a few years back and had the "yuck" reaction. But, I really love the Go Lean Crunch. I think I will stick with this for a while, especially since my first grader won't get lunch until 12:30 (school starts at 8). I definately believe what the box says about giving you a "full" feeling all morning long.

I like the twig stuff!! I picked up a box of the Crunch then put it back because it was 70 cal. more...that's a small glass of wine.
I'm not much of a cereal eater so I am going to stay with the twig stuff.

I mix the two together. I really prefer the Crunch, but the regular Go Lean has a little more fiber. I'm hooked on it, too! It really does keep me feeling full all morning long.
Nirak, that's such a cute story about your kids! :)

HDGirl,
Hmm... a small glass of wine with breakfast!? Never thought of that (lol)
My grocery store only carries the "Crunch" version. I bought it after reading some of the past reviews on the board, and I loved it! My husband even likes it, too, and he's a Lucky Charms kind of guy! :)

Chrisi - great idea about mixing the two. I could up the fiber and still get the "crunch" I so crave.

Kashi Go Lean Crunch is just too sweet for me- and it scrapes the roof of my mouth WAAHHH! (I'm having a Princess moment, as my friend would say). So, I 'm a nerd, I love With Kashi to Good Friends, and Kashi Go Lean, which I mix together and store in a big canister. I've mixed all three together- probably do that occasionally when Crunch is on sale. And I'm with HDgirl- I can eat more To Good Friends/Go Lean and have fewer calories, more fiber, less sugar than Crunch!
These are the only cold cereals I eat anymore- a HUGE bowl for breakfast. And it's time- excuse me while I go partake :)

My grocery store finally started carrying Go Lean Crunch and I was soooo happy -- I really like it. Yesterday I opened a new box and -- yikes, it was full of "sticks and twigs!" I bought the regular Go Lean by accident. I was not a happy camper.

We recently discovered Go Lean Crunch and we are hooked! Have not tried the regular Go Lean, and I don't know if we will. We're not really into the twigs.
But we love the Go Lean Crunch - my DH is a convert!

I was just looking at my boxes....The serving sizes are different! Go Lean is 120 cal for 3/4 cup and the Crunch is 190 cal for 1 cup
So...for 1 cup the Go Lean has 160 calories

And To Good Friends has 120 calories/cup, so when I mix the two (or even three), how many calories per cup do I have? It's way too early for this :D

I definitely like the CRUNCH the best! The twigs do not thrill me at all - about as exciting as cardboard. However, I do sometimes mix this in if I can't find the crunch. I do not eat the crunch alone - it's too crunchy and sweet - I mix it with Health Valley Soy Flakes - a perfect combo!
I love the Crunch too. DH saw me eating it regularly and finally asked what it was. He had a bowl and liked it too. Even at 190 cal., with fruit and coffee, it's a light breakfast and filling. We went through 3 boxes very quickly, then I decided I'd better finish the other cereals in the pantry.
The kid's fruit loops are pretty easy to figure out, I know which one is the Smart Start (too sweet -- like to mix it), but I have a Tupperware keeper full of mystery flakes. Something I must have bought to go with the Smart Start. Well, whatever it was, I had Smart Start and Mystery Flakes this morning, but I'm starting to crave Kashi Go Lean Crunch again.

I'll admit I haven't tried the crunch but I really like the Go Lean..it keeps me satisfied all morning. I usually throw some berries or raisins or dried cranberries on it and it's delicious!

Nirak,
No, No, No...not wine with breakfast...only Vodka will do!!!!
BlueMoose,
I didn't get as far as the serving size, but if the Crunch is so good my crew will eat it all and there won't be any for me!! Like what happened with the Pirates's Booty.

I'll have to try the twigs now. I love to mix cereals, so I'm thinking twigs & crunch. Like I said, I'm an all bran fan and you can't get much twiggier than that.

Personally, I'm a "mixer". I love the Go Lean Crunch, and I probably could eat it all by itself (I have a tremendous sweet tooth), but I usually mix it with Flax Plus, which is a bran flake cereal with flaxseed and a bunch of other types of brans. I feel like I'm getting more varied nutrients that way, plus I'm lowering the sweetness to a level I still like, but which I think is probably better for me.
I do like the plain Go Lean too, but I would usually mix that with something a bit sweeter!
The stores around here seem to always be running out of the Go Lean Crunch! Has anyone else had that problem? It's gotten to the point where I'll buy two or three boxes each time I find it, because I never know when they'll have it in again. I wonder if they've underestimated the popularity it would have.

I'm about halfway through my first boxes of Go Lean and Go Lean Crunch, and finally noticed that it's supposed to be part of a 'slimming system'? What's that about? All I know is that I like the taste, wonder what the 'twigs' are that some folks object to, and love them mixed together with a bit of Silk Vanilla Soymilk.
I've had to train myself to measure a serving with a measuring cup so I don't just pig out and eat it all, mostly because I have to order the Crunch at my health food store, and it takes about a week to get in.

Go Lean Crunch! Although I am almost in crisis mode because my grocery store hasn't had it for the past 3 weeks or so. I can't figure out if it's sold out or discontinued. Soon it will be time to pitch a genuine redhead fit...
I found my Go Lean Crunch at Kroger in their natural foods section. Randall's (owned by Safeway) carries it on their regular cereal aisle. The Crunch always seems to be the thinnest cereal on the shelves at Kroger...only one or two boxes left, but they have always had some. It hasn't been discontinued, just more of us discovering it.
I have to say that I'm surprised how many people mix cereals. My dad started doing that years ago. I first tried it to use up some cereals I tried and wasn't too fond of or when I couldn't make up my mind in the morning (a before coffee thing, I guess). I think DH still thinks it's weird to mix, but looks pretty common here.

Mmmmm. Flax Plus. I enjoy it even without mixing it - but I have to go the the co-op it buy it so I don't get it often. Flax Plus also has really good frozen waffles.

I get my Flax Plus in Kroger, in the same natural/health foods section where I get the Go Lean Crunch (when they have it in stock). I'll definitely have to look for the frozen waffles! They sound yummy!
I also think the Flax Plus is good enough to eat by itself, but I've gotten to the point where I almost think my cereal is boring if I don't have at least two kinds mixed. I don't think it's as much of a taste thing as it is a psychological thing. Maybe it just feels more "gourmet" if it's mixed. :)

Crunch reminds me of Sugar Smacks (remember those, do they still sell them I wonder?). DH loves Go Lean Crunch, but it is too sweet for me. I find that all that sugar causes me to crash mid-morning. Give me a bowl of Go Lean with blueberries or some other fruit, and some Westsoy Plus and I'm good until lunch.

Pammy--yes, they still sell Sugar Smacks!! (at least they have them here in Maryland) I love them--definitely my favorite "sugary" cereal :)

I ate Go Lean for breakfast almost every day for WEEKS. I'm kind of sick of it now. But I tried Go Lean Crunch and took it back to the store. It was so HARD! It was like trying to chew rocks. I don't eat cereal with milk -- I eat it dry. So those of you who wet your cereal probably don't have that problem.

makedah -- I wonder if you got a bad batch of the Go Lean Crunch? I eat mine with milk for breakfast, but I sometimes have it dry as a snack, and it hasn't been too hard for me to eat. To me it sorta has the texture of granola, or maybe a little softer. But if granola is too hard for you too, then maybe your Go Lean Crunch wasn't "off-quality."

I don't think they call them Sugar Smacks anymore. If I'm not mistaken they are now Honey Smacks.
A few years ago "sugar" became a bad word and a few cereals changed their names. The other one that comes to mind is Super Sugar Crisp - changed to Super Golden Crisp.
Any others?

I get Go Lean Crunch at Trader Joe's. It's only $2.49 a box there! (It's well over a dollar more per box in the grocery store.) And they always have a ton of it whenever I'm there (maybe people in Arizona don't like it?). Ok, now maybe I'm strange, but it never, ever occurred to me to mix my cereals before! I also love Good Friends so I'll have to give that a try mixed with the Go Lean Crunch.

That's what they remind me of! I really like it, but every time I have a bowl, it drives me nuts trying to think of what cereal it tastes like! Aaaah, another sugary childhood memory.

Oh, you mean it's NOT supposed to have that rock-like texture? :p This was definitely not the texture of granola - I love granola. It didn't crumble when I bit it -- I figure that if I ate a bowl of that my TEETH would be crumbling. Maybe I'll give it another go, then.
I agree, you must have gotten a bad box. Try it again.

I love the Crunch, too... BUT I have a problem whenever I eat it!!! I get heartburn SOOOOOO bad!!! It's VERY strange! ALL the Kashi's do that to me. I know it's not the high fiber, 'cause other high fiber foods/cereals don't do it. But there is SOMETHING in those Kashi's that does it to me every time. And it seems to be the ONLY food that does that to me! (I can eat hot and spicy, etc...) Does anyone have a clue what it might be?!!! But it really distresses me, because I LOVELOVELOVE those cereals, especially the Crunch!!!

I really enjoy the ceral as well. Yesterday, y 4 1/2 year old also had a bowl. However, she had horrific gas and stomach pains. We had to go to the potty many times yesterday. I also have gas everytime I eat this cereal. I think it's the soy in the cereal. Does anyone else have this problem?
Look at the ingredients panels. The Crunch has a number of grains that you may not get frm other sources, and you may tolerate one well. I also notice a Kashi blend referred to there that may be in all of their cereals, and it also contains a number of less familiar grains.

I went to the store today and bought more Kashi Go Lean Crunch ($4.19) Kashi to Good Friends ($3.69) and Kashi Medley ($3.79). We'll see what the kids think of these! Anyway, I'm glad to give Smart Start a rest, especially if these have more nutrients.

These prices are one reason I am thankful for our Trader Joes! Good Friends is only $1.99 at TJ's and Go Lean Crunch is about $2.50. I usually stock up every couple of weeks. I just found out they have a new type coming out on 9/4, it is called Heart to Heart.

Just discovered a new joy in Kashi cereals- homemade trail mix! A blend of Crunch, Go Lean, To Good Friends (what I eat for breakfast), chopped walnuts for protein (all that good Omega 3 fat), raisins or craisins or dried blueberries, and if you are feeling really sassy, M&Ms for a nice little energy boost. An awesome trail mix that it far has far less fat/fewer calories than the traditional granola blends or all nut/dried fruit blends.
This is also my snack food for long flights.
YUM! Julie

I have to say I am actually very surprised how many people LOVE these cereals. The first time I tried these I just thought the texture was horrible and the taste was very bland. I have tried Good Friends, Go Lean , and Go Lean crunch and Go Lean is my personal favorite. But I have to eat it with vanilla soy milk because otherwise it just tastes terrible. I really wanted to like the Go Lean crunch but I thought it was too sweet and hard. It is just so funny because when I bring it to work everyone makes fun of me for eating my twiggs but they are actually pretty good!!
