After hearing so much about this recipe (ever since last year), I finally decided to try it a couple of nights ago. Although I thought the soup was good, I was a little disappointed. Basically, I expected to be bowled over by this dish, but I wasn't. If anything, it tasted somewhat bland. Am I the only one who isn't completely overwhelmed with this recipe? I've also tried the recipe that won third place in the Healthy Choice contest (from the same article in the Sep '99 issue), and I really liked that one.

Some recipe titles just don't sound appealing. This happens to be one of them.

I have to say that I loved this one, but I recall making it spicier, based on suggestions from the board. It's a good wintery soup.

This may be my favorite Cooking Light recipe ever. What didn't you like about it? Of course, there's no point in trying it a second time if you didn't like it the first time, but I also make it spicier than the recipe actually calls for and I think that makes a big difference.

I didn't really dislike the recipe, but its flavors didn't exactly jump out at me either. Making the soup spicier might well have made a big difference.

I made this soup and my husband loved it! I remember using a rather hot salsa and I think this added just a little extra kick!

This is a test - I posted a reply to this earlier but it isn't showing up.

Kendra, I can see your reply just fine. Wonder why you don't see it? I read it right after you posted it, actually.
