Welcome, Molli!
DH is used for dear husband. You'll also see DD for daughter, DS for son, MIL for mother-in-law, etc.
Here are two threads where abbreviations have been discussed:

I felt silly for asking but I just wanted to know.
Thanks for the old threads too- funny to read.

This is also a helpful link when there are abbreviations, and you're not sure what they mean:

Since she brought it up, what do some of the other abbreviations stand for.
IE: BTW? back to work? hmmm naturally I can't think of others, but i know there are more. I get most of the relationship ones DH, DD, DS etc.
After reading the other suggested thread links, I don't know what to call my DBF, since we've been together almost 10 years it always seems juvenile, like we met for the first time last night at the skating rink.
We use LIS for our situation, (living in sin), but we find this offends some people. SO seems so cold....I usually just refer to him as "him". (not a whole lot warmer)
Oh well....

That's the one I asked about, I thought it was back to work, but that didn't always make sense.
Thanks

Hi Peggy,
I know about the BF thing. I am engaged but the wedding date is far in the future. I introduce him as my fiancee but here I use SO. I had issues with BF....seems so high school.
My Mom is seeing someone and she's 63.... to refer to her friend as her boyfriend is too funny. When I speak of him I say her male friend.
BTW...LIS...LOL.

Someone had previously introduced an alternative to SO on this board that I find amusing: DUMP (Domestic Un-Married Partner). :)

Hey, a DUMP isn't so bad...I just found out a few days ago that my husband and I are DINKS! (Dual income, no kids!) ACK!! :D

Isn't it so weird that only after a few weeks, I really feel like I know you guys! I am so addicted to this board. It is going to get me trouble.....
Going to be a new challenge to remember to refer to Ray as DH, rather than BF. I am so excited!
:D

Jewel~ LOL! The other night DH and I were playing a game while our newborn slept and he said, "Hey, we're not DINKS anymore! Now we're no-income-one-kids!" Yikes! NIOK isn't a good acromym, though. (He goes to school full time and I'm not going back to work 'til January)
