I have little to pass on in the way of wisdom here. I used to make my own baby food (well, actually I made my son's food... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif.) Basically, I just kept things bland and threw it in the food processor. I must've done something right, because he's ten years old, healthy and huge now!
Good luck!

please contact me and I'll let you know about the whole process. Oh well, here it goes: My son had a wheat allergy and everything was made with rice. In 1979 there wasn't much help. So I learned real quick. I steamed everything and process. You may want to add some of the liquid and keep all the liquid to season potatoes and for soups. Applesauce is easy too. Let me know how it goes.

I also made much of my own baby food. I used to steam up a bunch of veggies, pureed them in the food processor and would freeze portions in an ice cibe tray (I did the same with breast milk) so that I could pull out as much as I needed. As she got a little older, I found I could control the texture of the food - my daughter progressed pretty quickly to a chunkier grind. Beyond fresh veggies, she enjoyed hummus, refried beans, and crumbled tofu.
I am an aggressive seasoner by nature - I tried to tone it down slightly but didn't omit herbs/spices for her. It worked out very well. Today, if you ask what her favorite foods are, she (now 3 1/2) usually answers broccoli, avocado, greek olives, or salad.

I too made babyfood for my two little ones (and now make toddler food). It's pretty easy and there are many books to help. After you introduce the basics, you can mix and match. Some advice I received was to look at what was commercially available and use that for combination ideas. Don't make your own carrots, there's too much of something (my mommy brain doesn't remember what tho'). Ice cube trays are the way to go.
Plain yogurt with fruit puree is really easy and yummy.
When mine were old enough for chunkier foods, I found rice casserole dishes and thick soups to be great. One of the favorite casseroles has rice, cheese, egg, shredded carrots, green peppers, onions, and evap milk in it. As you can guess I only toned down the seasonings like Robin
I'd be happy to share more specific recipes with you. I have too many babyfood books not to share.
There are some recipes at this site for you to research. http://boards2.parentsplace.com/messages/get/pphomemadebabyfood9/1/1.html
