View Full Version : Good news about DD

Since I posted (ranted?) so many times about DD while she was living here, I thought I'd post some good news!
We spoke with her last night... she was happy, focused and in touch with the world. There's always stress in life, but she seems to be handling her school work very well, and even excelling in a very difficult class. (She goes to The Creative Circus, a boot-camp portfolio school for people in the creative arts.)
She's got friends, a plan for handling her everyday chores and her school work, which takes about 60 hours a week for 4 classes.
Needless to say, DH and I were thrilled to hear her talking and not crying!!! We're going to visit on Friday, because she is doing something with balsa wood, and DH is an expert in it, so she's offered his instruction to any of her classmates who might be interested. And we get to take her the rest of her stuff, because right now, it seems she won't be moving back! Yay!:D:D
Thank you all for listening -- and for talking me off the ledge, when I was about ready to give up.:)

Kay, that's great news. So glad your DD has found her purpose in life & that things are going well for her. :)

Who knew that, as a parent, you worry about your kids as much when they're grown as you did when they were babies?
That's wonderful that your DD is doing so well! Best of luck to her.

That's great to hear, Kay. I'm pretty sure I heard the sigh of relief all the way over here!;)
I heard a commercial for the school on the radio the other day, and was wondering how she was doing, so thanks for the update.

What a wonderful update. I'm so glad things are looking up. I hope she can continue on this path.

How wonderful to watch your kid blossom and thrive.
And you can now enjoy your new house and no guilt or added stuff to move :D

I know what a relief it is to have your daughter in a good place. We are going through something very similar with our daughter who is graduate school. The first term was hellish and she was "coming home" at least two times a week ( this involves a transatlantic flight) and was depressed and despondent most of the time. She went back for the second term and over the past few weeks, she has made new friends, found better housing and seems to be HAPPY. Watching a child suffer like that is incredibly hard, so I am sending congratulations for both you and dd getting to this point.

Glad to hear it Kay. What a relief you must feel! Not that parents will ever "not worry", but it's nice to be able to worry a little less. Take care!
Whocares, same goes for you. I am glad your daughter is in a better place now as well! :)

Thanks to you all!
Someone once told me that you're only as happy as your unhappiest child, and this seems to be really true for me. I know this is just one mark along the road, but at 33, I really hoped she'd have hit this place sooner!
Counting my blessings, though, and big sighs of relief, every time we talk, and there are no tears!:D:D

I'm very happy for you and your DD. I know how much you worried about her, as I did for my DS. Although I don't worry about him as much as I used to, the memories are still there. I hope she stays focused and finds happiness in what she decides to do.

Wonderful news. Big hugs of joy to all of you. I hope your Friday visit was fun for all. I'm sure it feels infinitely better to VISIT rather than be living under the same roof.

For both your sakes, then, I hope things continue to go well for her.
