Well, I guess I'll start a new thread for those of us in the West LA/Santa Monica area. Post your interest here and we'll set a first meeting in the next few weeks.

So, what happened to all you wonderful people on the west side of Los Angeles? I was hoping to get some response to this new thread so we could get a group together soon. I really don't want to have to drive to Long Beach or the Valley to do this, and since I have two young children (1 1/2 and almost 3) I doubt I would take the time to do it very often. But if it were locally, I sure would. Please let us know if you are interested!!! Thanks

I would be interested in a West LA/Santa Monica supper club. Let me know if there is anything I can do to get it started,

I would most definitely love to get together to be a part of a Supper Club in Santa Monica/Westside. I'm in Pac Pal. Couple of weeks (after Jewish Holdidays?) is a great time to get started.... Thanks for keeping up posts and interest.

I live in the Sherman Oaks area but don't have a problem driving to the westside. Count me in!

That makes about six of us so far. What day of the week would be best for everybody? Would a weekend be better, or during the week? I am fairly open, except for the last Tuesday of the month (my DH has a meeting those nights) and most Wednesdays (starting a yoga class!). BTY, when are the Jewish holidays over?
Any suggestions for restaurants on the westside?

I think the Jewish holidays are over at the end of September, but someone could probably correct me on that. I was going to suggest a great little restaurant in Culver City called Giovanni's - inexpensive (pastas are around $10), easy to get to, very quiet, and easy to find parking or take public transportation to. It's located at the SE corner of Venice and Clarington (about 3 blocks east of Motor), in a mini-mall. There's a lot there, but street parking on Venice is free and plentiful also.
Would mid October be a good time to meet? That would get the holidays over, and give the thread a litle more time to see if anyone else is intereste d.

Count me in also! Mid October works for me too. I would prefer a weekday if that works for everyone else.

I am also interested in the West LA Club. After receiving the supper club issue of Cooking Light, the idea sounds like a lot of fun! October sounds good for an initial meeting.

I live in Santa Monica and would also be interested so I count a total of eight people so far. It sounds like weeknights other than Wednesdays work best for most people. Do we want to meet at a restaurant for dinner or just coffee to plan our first cooking club menu?

Hi everybody!
I'm sure everyone's attention has been taken with the horrendous incidents that have taken place in the last two weeks as well as the holidays. We'd like to pin down a date for our first meeting. Is Tuesday, October 9th good? We can decide on the place later. Someone suggested Giovanni's. If any new people are interested please post and we'll send you an e-mail with the date and time. Looking forward to our first meeting!!

That time and place work for me as well. I know a couple of other people who might be interested who don't read this group, so I'll forward this message to them to join us there. I will be glad to make reservations since it looks like we've got a large group coming.

I guess we're going to meet at Giovanni's Pizza and Trattoria which is located at 10026 Venice Blvd., on the corner of Clarington, about 3 blocks East of Motor. The phone number there is 310-839-1757.
I'm making reservations for 6 people so far. Let me know if there are any additional people who want to join us. See you all there!

Thanks for making the reservations. It may be helpful to list those individuals that are included in your count of 6 (hopefully it includes me!)
Also, what time works best for everyone? I will suggest 8:00, but if necessary I can do earlier (or later!)

How about getting started at 7:30 pm and if people need to, they can join us later. I think most people are going to be ordering dinner. The 6 people who said they could make it on Oct. 9th so far are Mom of two, Kauai's mom, ecaucutt, nmm216, Susan2002 and Kshanka. Giovanni's doesn't take reservations so we can just show up and they will seat us. No prob

I know I am very late entering your group and you already have so many people. I would love to at least come to your meeting on Tuesday and see what it's all about, even if there is no room for me. Please let me know if it is all right!
Thanks.

Alright, LA, our supper club is official.
To all of you who couldn't make it to Giovanni's tonight, we met and planned our first supper club dinner for November 13th.
Of course, if you weren't there tonight, you are still welcome to come join us at dinner.
If you want to be a part of the group, email me at akmartin@hotmail.com and I'll send you all the info you need to come to dinner, etc.
Cheers,
Annika

Newcomers!
The West LA supper club is still in its nascent stages, and may be splitting into two groups. If you are interested, email me about coming to our first dinner, where we will all meet and discuss the logistics of this endeavour.
Cheerio!
