Can I sub chipotle powder for this? I want to make Strawberry Ice Cream with Guajillo Chili and Lime from Homesick Texan. I did not get a chance to stop by our latin market today, but I do have chipotle powder. Can I use this?

How is Guajillo supposed to taste? I know chipotle is very smoky...is that the flavor the ice cream is supposed to have?

I have no idea what guajillo is supposed to taste like...that's why I'm asking! ;)

The guajillo is mild, so ancho chili powder, anaheim, or New Mexican chili powder would be a better sub than chipotle.

I agree with PattiA. Chipotle has a smokier taste than the other peppers. Even ancho might be a bit "deeper" than the guajillo, though. Myself, I'd go with New Mexico or anaheim, but ancho might do in a pinch (no pun on measurements intended).
