Just got this one (and probably won't be too long before I add Looney Spoons) - even if we never try a recipe all the little tips/stories/jokes are fun to read. Anyone else have this cookbook and recommendations for winners? Just glancing through everything looks yummy :)

I've had Looney Spoons for years. Even my food hating son gets a kick out of reading it.

I have Crazy Plates, and I have made several recipes from it. All have been good, and none are complicated-besides the fun you have reading the book.

Both were apparently huge sellers in Canada (where I believe the authors are from). I hear that the recipes are super easy, though I don't have either book so I can't vouch for the taste or ease of the recipes.

Cheers,
Natasha

I've had both books for awhile and everything I've tried has been good. Everyone gets a kick out of the names of the dishes. They are very clever. I would highly recommend both.

Boy am I way off or what!! I had heard glowing reports about both CrazyPlates and LooneySpoons, so I bought both off of Amazon.com. I honestly didn't find any recipes at all that appealed to me! I think the 'cuteness' of the recipe names put me off too. (Miss American Thigh?) The little tidbits were interesting, and the book was entertaining, but I never made any of the recipes. Sold both on half.com last month! :D

I guess maybe I AM a food snob! (gasp!)

I was wondering if there was something wrong with me Jewel, but I guess not. I didn't care for any of the recipes in them either. Thank goodness I'm not in the minority here.

I finally got Crazy Plates (probably for my kids) as they have been looking through it more than I have.

I know most of you have not made a thing from the books (I haven't either from the first one), but for those of you who have the book and have made recipes, what are your favorites?

Oh by the way, for anyone interested, www.chapters.ca has the book on sale for $14.97 Canadian (under $10 US) . I didn't get mine there, (I paid $17 US!) but have ordered from them in the past with great service and cheap shipping rates to the US.

I have both of these books, and while I have not made too much from them yet, the things I have made have been decent. I would have to say CL recipes are usually nicer, but these are quick and easy. My kids love the Macaroni and Cheese, and I like giving them something homemade and lower fat than the stuff in the box with the orange powder. I also enjoyed Fundalentil Soup quite a bit. I made the Chocolate Mint Brownies , and my family enjoyed them. I thought they were just O.K. There are better brownies to be had elsewhere.

I have had Looneyspoons and Crazy Plates for years and love them both! In fact, I just made "Eata Fajita Salad" (?) from Crazy Plates for dinner tonight and my husband and I thought it was great. "Chili Chili Bang Bang" from Looneyspoons is probably one of our all time favorite recipes - we have it just about once a week during the winter!

i have looneyspoons and have enjoyed most everything i've tried from it. mostly, i like the stir-fry and pasta recipes. i can't think of the names of the recipes off hand (they are all so silly anyhow!). i still cook from CL about 99% of the time, though.

I bought Crazy Plates less than a year ago on E-bay. The recipes I've tried have been very good. Can't remember the names of the recipes (I'm at work...cookbook is at home), but I made a pasta salad with crab meat (fake crab) that was good, the oven "fried" chicken was really good, and another pasta dish I made was a hit (had chicken, bow-tie pasta, sun-dried tomatoes.....oh, I can't remember what else!). I've got several recipes marked to try, but just haven't had the time. But, three good recipes out of three is a good start. I would recommend this cookbook!
