I just found the coolest thing!! OK, it's cool to me, and it's NEW to me, even though at least half of you are gonna tell me that they've been around for years...

In this month's issue of Good Housekeeping magazine they have a little corner ditty on a new decorating tool for cookies which I think is really nifty. They're called Doodlers and they're food-coloring markers! They look like regular markers in eight different colors, and you can draw and write on 'royal icing', which is that stuff that dries rock hard? They're made by Private Label Products (888-703-7077) and it's only $5.99 for a set of eight. The photo shows a cookie shaped like an airplane covered in white icing, and they have drawn the top of the plane on the cookie! They've made stripes, dots, strokes that look like a paintbrush...all pretty vibrant colors too!

I don't know if they're available at a place like Williams-Sonoma or not, but I know I'm gonna look! If I can't find them locally I'm going to order these babies! I've never made Royal Icing before, but I'm told that's the best way to cover sugar cookies during the holidays so they don't melt. These could be a blast for kids, and Kwormann, these would be WONDERFUL for a class project closer to the holidays, dontcha think? :D

I just had to share since we're all just dying to get into that Holiday Spirit in September!! :p

I may have to try those with the boys. I got suckered and bought a box of strawberry Poptarts once because the were iced plain white and came with a red doodler-type pen. My budding artists thought it was a neat idea, but they weren't too keen on the poptarts.

I think I've seen something similar at Michael's. They were on clearance the last time I was there, though, so they may not have any left.

I've seen them in the King Arthur catalog, but they are about twice the price from there. I thought they sounded like fun too!
