View Full Version : Help--Chicken prep
I have to bring chicken to grill at a BBQ today. Should I partially cook it in advance? If so, how? Usually, at home I would just throw it on the grill without pre-cooking but there will be limited grill space at this party, so I want it to move faster. Thanks for your help in advance!!

I usually boil my chicken first if I'm going to grill it. Baking, or microwaving usually
dries it out too much, plus when you just grill it sometimes it doesn't get done
all the way through..or it burns before the inside is cooked.
I generally boil it with 1 tsp of olive oil, salt, garlic powder and a little bit of oregano.

I know your BBQ is already past, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents for possible future reference! :)
I know lots of people parboil their chicken (or other meat) before grilling... but, personally, I never do. I think it leeches out flavor. (Think of how broth and stocks are made!)
I have found that if you pound your chicken breasts very thin and flat, they cook on the grill in NO time... and come out crispy on the outside, but still moist and delicious on the inside.
Just MHO! :)
