I go to a Halloween party every year where people have really good, creative costumes.

Last year I went as Monica Lewinsky (beret, blue dress with white stain on front, cigar). It was a lot of fun.

I'm at a loss for ideas this year...any suggestions???

I'm going to be the devil with the blue dress on. My DH is going to be an angel.

Some friends of mine went as Sonny and Cher, with the woman being Sonny and her tall husband being Cher.

I also had some friends that went as a cooler and beer cans.

Last year I went as Martha (Stewart) and my dh went as Norm (Abrams). It was pretty funny. Of course, I brought decorated cut out cookies for my hostess gift and I made mini cookie cutter ear rings. The rest was easy: denim shirt, kakhis, bean boots & a messy blond wig.

Here is my past list that hubby and I have done :

Pimp and Ho......DH was the Ho..I was the pimp

Fly-- DH made wings out of chicken wire and wore a black body suit

Last year I was a Female Impersonator aka Drag Queen (Ala Priscilla Queen of the Desert)

Hubby has been a dead Emeril ( wore kitchen whites that were a bit burned up and he had the
2nd and 3rd degree burn make up on)

Jelly Fish: Bought a clear umbrella and hung strips of bubble wrap off of it, got the idea from
Martha Stewart last year

Elvis and Pricilla Presley

This year we are going to be Steve and Terri Irwin....The CROCODILE HUNTER!!!!!
Easy outfits..all kahki and we bought a blow up alligator for hubby to "wrestle"..we've been
practicing our "aussie" accents too.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!!! It is definately my favorite holiday, and friends of ours have a blow-out costume party every year. Last year the four of us were KISS. It was hysterical. I love the idea of Steve and Terri Irwin, I may have to steal that one for this year. We have also been Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, Mark Anthony and Cleopatra, one unimaginative year, we just went as scary vampires and our costumes were big hits.

Last year DF (Dear Fiance) went as Freud and I went as a Freudian Slip. Very easy. He got a fake beard, pipe, glasses, wore a tweed coat. I wore a slip with a little tag that said Freudian slip. Other idea.... My brother went as a fish, his GF went as the fisherwoman. He had a "Catch of the Day" attached. (This won the prize at the party- hands down) She had a gummy worm attached to her "pole"

a friend of mine went as "static cling". She cut the bottom out of a round laundry basket, stood inside it with it carried around her waist. She wore a pair of black pants and a black turtleneck and sewed socks on her shirt and pants. It was really cute!

I saw a cute idea the other day of a tea bag costume. You basically make it out of interfacing and leaves. If you're interested, let me know, and I can dig up where I found the directions.

One of the cutest pairs I ever saw, was of two friends who went as M&Ms. One red, one yellow.

I did the M&M thing with some friends. Really easy, we just cut huge circles out of posterboard and glued an "m" on it. We also passed out snack sized M&M's. We just wore black leggings and white long sleeve T's.

Then there was a couple my family knew.

They showed up at a party, she in a brick-colored box, with her head and arms sticking out, coordinating tights, etc. He was wearing painter's jeans and a t-shirt and painter's hat, and carried a trowel. They were....

A brick and a bricklayer.

Brought the house down!

SueInMarne - my BF wants to dress up as Elvis and Pricilla Presley, mostly because he wants to be able to do his Elvis imitation all night long. I'm not sure how I would do Pricilla and be recognized as her - any ideas? A friend suggested doing Elvis and Pricilla on their wedding day, but I don't think we want our friends to start teasing us about getting married just yet. :)

We haven't decided for sure what we're doing, yet. But, the current idea is to go as night and day. DH would wear black and we'd cut out stars to tape all over him and then a moon for his chest. I'd have to find some sky-blue clothes to wear and then I'd cut out sun rays to put around my face.
If anyone has any ideas to add to this, I'd appreciate it.
We're going to this fun store tonight that has lot's of theater make-up and costume paraphenilia. Maybe we'll see things there that will give us other ideas.

Halloween is so fun!!

this year I am going as Jungle Jane. I have also been wonder woman, always a hit, and Olive Oyl of course. Some of the best outfits I have seen are Big Boy, corpse in a coffin, cowboys and girls are always fun!

Hope you have a great time!:)

I went to a halloween party in college were one girl went as bubble gum. She wore a pastel pink warmup suit and tapes a shoe to her head.

Last year DH (AL) went as AL from Home Improvement. Full beard, red flannel shirt, jeans, tool belt. He won 'Most Humorous'.
I was the book "What to expect when you're expecting" because I was preggers, also it was easier than going as a tent!

I've seen some couple's go as other couple's at the party, that was funny.

DH and I are not going out this year (camping instead), but here are some of the things we were thinking:

Marylin Monroe & Joe Demaggio
John Lennon & Yoko Ono

We have been a butterfly and butterfly catcher.

Last year I went as a "deviled egg" a red devil costume and then I cut out a big circle and colored the middle yellow to look like a fried egg and attached that to the front and back of me.

My husband went as Richard Simmons--to funny little striped shorts, tank top, big curly wig and head/wrist bands.

Some other ideas we've seen:
Twister-buy the game and wear the spin dial on your head and wear the game board on you.
Christmas tree--wear all green, glue ornaments & wear an angel or star on your head.
Popcorn--paint a box red/white and write POPCORN on it on the shoulder area glue real popcorn and cover a hat in popcorn.

I will keep thinking....

Last year SO and I went as Cheech and Chong. I was Cheech, complete with off-center mustache. He already had the goatee going so he got to be Chong.

The year before we were old people getting ready for bed. Don't know where the inspiration for that one came from. We had grey hair and wrinkles and dressed in old people bedclothes. We also had funky canes and spectacles.

Both very comfortable costume choices.

Last year I was a lady bug--got some heavy duty felt at Jo-Anne fabrics & fabric glue, cut out 2 big circles-black for front & red for back, 'shoulder straps & waistbands' to hold it together on top & sides, a black stripe down the center back & 'dots' for the wings. wore all black & got a head band & pipe cleaners to be my antenna. Cost about 10 bucks, made it in about an hour, and won 1st prize at work.

I have also done the teabag, my mom made me this when I was younger (about 12?) she took two small sheer kitchen curtains (you could probably find some at a rummage store) & sewed them into bags & filled with leaves (make sure you spread them out some where to dry for a day or two first, or they'll be really musty). She took a piece of cord & a square of cardboard & made the 'tag' for Lipton "the brisk tea". I remember I wore my brown cords & turtleneck.

One year my husband & I went as Mr. and Mrs. Roper-very easy, a cheesy leisure suit & a muumuu & gaudy jewelry-even had the curly wig.

This year will be our first at our new home to give out candy to the trick or treaters, so we're looking forward to doing up the house & carving pumpkins etc.

I love some of these ideas! A couple of times (during thinner years) I have gone as a dominitrix. I wore a black lace bodysuit, fishnets, boots, bustier, and carried a home made whip. If you have a man that’s a good sport, you can have him on a leash. A few years ago, I went as white trash. I wore a white trash bag filled with trash (clean of course), curlers in my hair, lots of make up and plastic bad teeth. Soon to be ex-boyfriend was Beetlejuice. The year before that he went as the “gay” reaper complete with make up and painted toenails.

Last year, we borrowed the best masks ever made (IMHO) from my roomie. One was an overly made up old woman with very chubby rouged cheeks and a kerchief on her head. I wore a pair of funky pajamas and some very fuzzy slippers. Soon to be ex, had an undertaker mask on - which had wrinkles, a long beard, lots of wrinkles and a top hat. We had the best time standing out on Pacific Coast Highway waiting for friends to pick us up. People were driving by, honking, waving and laughing.

The plan is to go as a hockey player (DH) and the puck (me). We'll see how that goes!

I went to a huge Halloween party a couple of years ago at Utah State University, where there are literally thousands of people in costume. It is so much fun! The year I went I wrote down some of the most original and fun costumes that I saw. Here are some of them:

*Mr. Potato Head
*Hunter & Deer with target on its belly
*Dog & Hydrant
*Smurfs
*Jolly Green Giant
*a disco ball
*the Harlem Globetrotters
*Indiana Jones
*a cell phone
*a sofa and TV (this costume was about 3 guys who were wearing this sofa costume with holes cut out for their heads. It was huge, they had to carry it around. The fourth guy wore a box and was a TV. Every so often, they'd all stop and crouch down so it looked like a living room set)
*Clark Kent/Superman (this was a guy wearing a button up shirt and tie and nice slacks and the glasses. the shirt was open at the top and the tie askew, and under the shirt he had a Superman shirt on so he looked like Clark Kent just about to turn into Superman)
*Devo (the 80's group from the video "Whip It"--they wore all black, glasses with dark frames, and red plastic bowls on their heads)--this was probably my favorite that I saw
*Patsy & King Arthur from "Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail" (Patsy wore a big backpack and carried two halves of a coconut that he banged together when the King walked)
*parachuters (they wore jumpsuits and backpacks. Suspended above the backpacks were these little parachutes held up with wire, so it looked like they were hanging down under the parachutes)
*the Crocodile Hunter (khaki shirt and shorts, hiking boots, and rubber snakes and lizards and crocodiles pinned on and stuck into pockets)
*Oompa Loompa (the little guys from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

I only wish, I was as creative as all of you here. One of my daughters freinds got a hold of a PETCO (pet supply store) badge.
Her mom made a simple blue vest, she paled her face, painted fake blood on and took her invisible dog lease. You know the hard leash that looks like you are walking your invisible dog? She was a dead Petco employee with a ghost dog. It was very clever.

Not very clever and I admit that we stole this idea from teenagers at last-year's halloween parade, but my DH and I will be going this year as two trees with a laundry line between us (doll clothes hanging from the line). Have fun, everyone!
