How long do you feed a cat kitten food?

Vet says a year. I've read 7-8 months online. How long do you feed a cat kitten food before transitioning to adult?

I can't remember with the last one, but I'm pretty sure he started eating the other cat's adult food at 5 months.

As we can only guess at Sly's age, assuming he is around 6/7 months now, I'm transitioning him to adult food now. Vet said to start by mixing some adult into kitten food as it might upset tummy for awhile. I used up the last of the kitten food last week and now he is a 'big boy' only. I did notice a bit of loose poo at first, but seems fine now. With my previous ones, I don't remember feeding kitten food at all... but again, a long, long time ago;)

Casey, same here. I don't remember ever buying kitten food until we got Artie. ;)
