My mom used to make a peach dessert- I believe it was calling peach cooing (not sure of the spelling) I know it was baked in a 9x13 dish, it had sour cream in it (maybe cream cheese as well?) and it was served cold after it had been refrigerated. It had a firm consistency after being refrigerated. If there was a crust, it was a thin one on the bottom. Has anyone ever heard of this? I loved the taste of it, but it was very rich and creamy. I am dying for a recipe for it.

Hmm... could it be a peach kuchen? The description sounds similar to a recipe that I have at home. I'd be happy to send it to you this evening. As I recall, it has sliced peaches and a sour cream filling. Kuchen is a German style coffee cake that usually has fruit in it.
Actually, I found a recipe very similar to the one I have at home on the internet. Here it is... I hope it's similar to what you remember.
Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup butter
5 peaches, peeled and sliced
2 egg yolks
1 cup heavy cream or sour cream
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and 2 Tablespoons of the sugar together. Work in butter until mixture crumbles. Pile into an ungreased square pan and pat even layer over bottom and halfway up the sides of the pan. Place peach slices over pastry, sprinkle mixture of cinnamon and remaining sugar over top and bake for 12 minutes. Mix egg yolks with heavy or sour cream, cream, and pour over top of partially cooked kuchen. Place back in oven for 30 to 40 more minutes until top is bubbly. Serve warm.
You found this recipe on 1st Traveler's Choice Internet Cookbook. (www.virtualcities.com)

Could be- I was alot younger (say 3 or 4 years old?) and don't remember the specifics of it, but this does sound good. The only big difference is that I really remember it being served cold. I may have to give it a try. I thought about kuchen, but wasn't sure if that was it. Thanks for you response!

Just a thought: when pronouncing "kuchen" with a German accent, it sound a lot like "cooing" - so this might very well be the item you're looking for!

I think there was a recipe in Cooking Light (last summer?) for a peach kuchen. If not a kuchen, then it was something very similar.

Thanks everyone for your input- believe me, that thought about kuchen crossed my mind many times, but maybe I'll just have to make one and see how it turns out. (gee, guess I'll have to bake again!) Then I'll know for sure if that's what it is. I sure hope so. I just remember eating it back when I was very young- and I loved it. I probably have that recipe from CL, too, since my magazines go back at least 3 years.
