I've had this recipe on my "to try" list for about a year. Decided to try it today and am I glad I did. It is super good and very easy to put together. Had no left overs.

Bourbon Chicken

2 lbs boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
1 -2 tablespoons olive oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup light brown sugar (used white, didn't have brown)
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup soy sauce
Directions:
Heat oil in a large skillet. Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned. Remove chicken. Add remaining ingredients, heating over medium Heat until well mixed and dissolved. Add chicken and bring to a hard boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve over hot rice and ENJOY.

Sounds good, but where's the bourbon?;)

Exactly! The bourbon ingredient got me! Did you maybe sub the apple juice?

I found that exact recipe on Food.com, and it didn't have the bourbon, either! Very strange... In fact, I only found 1 out of 4 Bourbon Chicken recipes that had bourbon in them -- one had Southern Comfort! What is wrong with this world??? ;)

Isn't that the truth, Kay?! I honestly don't get it.

I don't know if this will explain everything, but I just read that it is called Bourban Chicken after Bourban Street in New Orleans.

And what is also odd is that evidently Bourbon Chicken pops up on the menus of a lot of non-authentic type Chinese restaurants.

My sis and I visit a Chinese buffet, and loved, loved, loved their "boru-boru" chicken. I searched the web for a recipe, and found nuttin'.

Til I visited another restaurant and found the same dish labeled "bourbon" chicken.

My recipe, which I do not have at hand, does indeed contain bourbon. But I still call it boru-boru chicken. :)
