Last night I made the Thai Shrimp Bisque, from Jan/Feb 2000 issue for the first time. I usually love Thai food, but this tasted way off - bitter aftertaste. Kind of disappointing with $12 worth of shrimp. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else tried this dish?

;) I have made this many times and really love it! It always receives rave reviews. I would definately suggest trying again - I find it is even better day two.
SOrry you had a disappointing experience.
We made this and liked it too. I would make sure you only take the green part of the lime peel -- that you may have gotten the white part that can be bitter is my first guess as to what might have caused a bitter aftertaste. Second guess might be too much ginger or old spices? Hope you try it again and like it.

Gotta say that this is a soup I truly enjoy in colder weather and have made for impressed guests. Sorry you didn t like it; maybe give it another go, as Beth suggested?
Otherwise, well, tastes will always differ. It s one small part of what makes us interesting!

Chica,
So sorry to hear you were disappointed w/ this bisque. It is one of our favorites, too!
