There is a lot of talk about how Las Vegas has finally moved away from the buffet and toward quality cuisine. I'm a new resident and would enjoy sharing recipes, dining experiences and camraderie with others.
I'm happy to organize a club if there are other interested. Please post on this thread and let me know of your interest.
Cheers!

Hi Megan,
I have been looking for a Las Vegas club since I moved here last month also. I would love to join a supper club. You can email me at rmbrian@yahoo.com

We've got some momentum going now! I also have a client who is interested. Perhaps the three of us can get together to talk about what we'd like the supper club to be about.

Now that we have several interested people, we should consider setting up a meeting. I suggest a restaurant for the first meeting. The idea is to get to know one another and discuss what sorts of things we'd like to do as a club. Best days for me are 10/2, this week, and any day the week of 10/8.
We could also use a suggestion for a restaurant. My preference is one that is off-Strip, non-chain, and neighborhood favorite. I may have to forgo the non-chain requirement, however.
Please post or e-mail me at Mizzzzm@aol.com.

Hello all,
Coming up the rear here, I guess. I would be really interested in joining; I'm divorced and live alone and adore cooking -- it's the only thing I miss about my ex! But I'm leaving for a few days and won't be back until Oct. 9, with a trade show here on Oct. 10-11. I'm open to just about any kind of format if I have to miss our intial get together, so please keep me posted.
If I'm *not* too late for the restaurant meeting and you're still looking for suggestions, I love Wild Sage Cafe on Warm Springs (although it's a wee bit spendy). Also enjoy Toto's on Tropicana for Mexican, Strings on Trop for Italian and Yama Sushi on Flamingo and Maryland for Japanese/Sushi. On the west side, Tenaya Creek Brewery is good and easy to get to. I can meet pretty much anytime after Oct. 11. (but fall is a busy time for travel and trade shows in my business)
Thanks

It's not too late! No one has yet posted a response, so let's give ourselves a little more time to plan. I suggest that we get together on Tuesday October 16.
I've heard good things about Wild Sage Cafe and will be going there for the first time next week. Rosemary's Restaurant is my favorite in town so far.
All of you interested should voice an opinion about restaurant choice and price range. I don't mind spending a little extra from time to time for a great meal with friends. So, for me, it depends how often we go out.
Please post here or e-mail me at MizzzzM@aol.com. I'll be out of town until 10/8 so don't expect immediately replies.
Cheers!

Rosemary's is wonderful -- I also have a card from them that will give us a first round of drinks on the house. Any of the places I listed before are fine. I would be up for a splurge for the first time we meet, but am happy with just about anything. October 16 works for me.
Hope to see everyone there (wherever "there" ends up being!). Thanks for getting this going, Megan.

Did anyone have a time in mind for the 16th? I have to work that night at 7pm (I'm a night shift worker!) but I am available in the afternoon anytime. Is 4 pm too early for everyone?? I'm sure this is opposite of everyone but I thought I'd give it a try :) I am working Tue-Fri at 7 pm then I have company for the weekend so I can't offer any alternative days that week. Let me know what you guys think!

Hello everyone---
Ever since the first article on the supper clubs, I have thought it was a great idea and would really like to be included in the group if you are still looking for potential members as I think it just might be the motivation I need to incorporate more of the cooking light style into my lifestyle--my catch with the 16th is that is my niece's Sweet 16 and have family plans that day---if it works out that is a good day for everyone else (which I know is tough since we will be bringing together so many different folks) or just the majority, maybe they could get together and rough out a plan, e-mail it to everyone and then we could get together one more time to confirm it and plan the first get together?

Okay - two of you can't make the 16th and Rosalie works T-F, so I'm proposing Monday the 15th. Please respond here.
Earlier in the day doesn't work for me. Sorry, Rosalie. But if your schedule is consistently T-F and you're always open on Mondays, we can keep our meetings to Mondays. Let us know.
So that we don't have big scheduling headaches every time, I recommend that we discuss a regular schedule for our club and everyone sends an RSVP so we have a head count. One more thing for our first agenda.
Cheers!

I was asked a few nights ago to switch nights with someone so I am now working M-W that week and have company starting on Thurs. I am generally very flexible since I only work 3 or 4 nights a week but the week of the 15th does not reflect that! My nights to work each week vary and it usually not a problem to get a specific day off if with a few weeks notice. If the 15th works for everyone but me, I would not mind missing the initial meeting if that were okay with everyone else. Having a set day for each of our dinners is a great idea!

Hi all,
Monday the 15th works for me; Monday in general is pretty good for me, because usually I don't have meetings then.

I found a restaurant for our first club meeting! It is aptly named Bix's Supper Club and located at 4495 S. Buffalo. I'll make a reservation for Monday, 10/15 at 6:30 pm. Please let me know if you can make it.

Count me in! I've never been to Bix', but have heard good things about it. I hope everyone who has posted previously can make it!

The idea of a LV supper club sounds great... Include me in the # of reservations that you make for the evening. See you at 6:30 on Monday 10/15. Collette

Hi everyone--I ran into a little family emergency this evening and was unable to make it to Bix's--hope you guys enjoyed a great meal and that you still have room at the table for me! Would still love to be involved and am excited to hear about your evening and all the plans for the club.

We're off! The first meeting of the Las Vegas Supper Club took place tonight with only three in attendance. Sorry we missed you, Lynda, and we hope the emergency was quickly solved.
It turns out Bix's Supper Club is no longer open, so we met in the parking lot then headed down the block to Cafe Chloe. We had a wonderful meal.
We came to agreement on three things:
:) We prefer to cook at our homes, mostly pot luck;
:) We must be flexible as the club evolves; and
:) Once a month is about the right frequency.
The next meeting is a pot luck dinner at my home on Tuesday November 13th. I'll prepare the entree and other will bring appetizers, sides and dessert. If you are interested, please post here or e-mail me directly for additional information.
Cheers!

Hi guys--
I know that the 13th is fast approaching and that plans need to get underway for the first official dinner---are you still coordinating on this site or have you all went to personal e-mail addresses? I have a conflict with Tuesdays---but want to stay involved if you are going to meet on days other than that also. Did anyone notice the new post for a NW Las Vegas supperclub?

To Lynda and all others interested in the LV Supper Club,
We had our first pot luck dinner and had a fine time. Four of us were present and two others are very interested in joining us. The next event is a pot luck brunch on Sunday December 9th on the east side of town.
We having a lot of fun swapping recipes, success stories, failures and more. Please e-mail me if you are interested in joining us.
Cheers

The Las Vegas Supper Club had it's third meeting - and a wonderful brunch hosted by Rosalie. It featured recipes from Cooking Light and was delightful.
We are looking for additional members to join us as we share good food, exchange recipes, talk about favorite restaurants and other common interests. The meeting will probably be Monday January 28, 2002.
Please contact me or post to this thread if you would like more information.
Cheers!

My husband and I are pretty new to LV and would love to join a supper club. Any space?

The Las Vegas Supper Club is an intimate group of four women, occasionally joined by two husbands. Our group decided that we would prepare pot luck meals, rotating homes, on a monthly basis. The hostess chooses the theme, prepares the entree and provides the beverages. The guests alternate between first course, side dish and dessert.
Our ages range widely, our backgrounds and occupations as well. But, we have in common a love of food and animals (from birds to ferrets and then the common dog and cat).
We welcome you and others to join us. For information about our next dinner, please e-mail me at mizzzzm@aol.com.
