debg,

I found it for you. It was in the November 1998 issue. I haven't personally tried it, but Star says it is good.

Spicy Pumpkin Bread

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teas baking powder
1 teas ground allspice
1 teas ground cinnamon
1 teas ground nutmeg
3/4 teas salt
1/2 teas baking soda
1/2 teas ground cloves
1 1/3 cups packed brown sugar
3/4 cup fat-free milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 teas vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 (15oz) can pumpkin
Cooking spray
1/3 cup walnuts

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 7 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Combine sugar and next 5 ingredients in a bowl; stir well with a whisk until smooth. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until moist.
3. Spoon batter into 2 (8x4-inch) loaf pans coated with cooking spray, and sprinkle with walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool loaves in pans 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pans. Cool loaves completely; cut each loaf into 12 slices.

This bread is very good! I haven't made it since was in CL in '98, but now that I'm thinking about it, I want to make it again. It also makes the house smell great when it's baking! Thanks for reminding me about it!

Yes, this bread is great! It is one of the few recipes I remember to go back to over and over. It is perfect to have for overnight company. And I use it at holidays to give away.

Thanks you guys for getting me the recipe (and all the others too!). I don't want you to think I'm "incapable" of doing my own research...I just was having such a hard time using the search engine... :confused
I appreciate all the support and ideas you guys give! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Sneezles, I've been meaning to order the book myself. I saw if 1st at my girlfriends and she has made some wonderful dishes from there (I've had the pleasure of tasting them!). Anyway, that's what I originally bought the CL magazine for was to order the book. Then I found the chat room and have been so distracted since!!!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

debg,
This board has that ability! I've been trying to get off for the last 15 minutes to do dishes and get to bed at a reasonable time. It's addictive!

That pumpkin bread sounds yummy. It's almost time for more fallish recipes!
