Was anyone else disappointed with this article? I almost never complain about the articles because I figure to expose us to new exciting recipes they sometimes have to go out on a limb. But I have an ice cream maker that I've been wanting to try out and I was so excited to hear there was an ice cream article but......tequila lime and banana maple....what happened to vanilla and chocolate??
Okay done rambling now, I feel better.

Has anyone tried any of these recipes? Are they actually good?

I agree with you - those ice cream recipes are ones I would never try - but I think it's because they've done chocolate and vanilla several times already over the years.... but I still think they could have come up with something that we'd actually LIKE more than banana maple? All you have to do is go look at Ben & Jerry's at the grocery store if they're low on ideas for flavors!!

You mean like low-fat Chubby Hubby (Skinny Hubby)?!? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif I'd be hauling out the ol' ice cream maker in a minute!

I agree; banana maple does not sound good to me, but the frozen yogurt and watermelon-cantaloupe sorbet sound interesting.

About the machines, what does everyone have and USE? I have a bucket freezer, but it has been up in the attic for quite some time now; I just don't use it. I think the cylinder makers would be more convenient. I also like the idea of making a smaller quantity - less to tempt me! Should I buy one as a birthday present to myself?

I have to say, I do not agree with you...
I think the sorbets sound great and I made the Brown Sugar Pineapple Frozen yogurt for my inlaws and they raved about how it tasted!

I was glad to finally see something different!
