View Full Version : restaurants-Athens GA
Hello- Recently on a thread about good restaurants someone mentioned a good spot in Athens, GA. I have to travel there some for work and was wondering if any of you know of other tasty places to eat there that I wouldn't otherwise know of? Thanks!

Athens is a cool town. There are actually quite a few neat places to eat. There is a greasy spoon right near campus -- unfortunately I don't know the name - that has aweseome breakfast food, burgers, etc. Michael Stipe of REM owns a juice bar that is good if you like smoothies and all vegetarian stuff. It's a small town, so if you ask around, I'm sure the people you're working with will be able to point you to some of the nicer restaurants there as well.

Ooooh-I am so excited! If I am recalling the same post, I was the person who you are referring to. The restaurant I suggested was Bluebird Cafe. It is a hole-in-the-wall type mostly vegetarian restaurant. I recommend the bulldog tofu with the most incredible whole wheat muffins you can imagine. They also have good huevos rancheros (which I got with tofu instead of eggs). Another good restaurant is The Grit. Let's see, the Taco Stand is good-cheap Americanized Mexican food. As I think of more, I will post.
