I hope some of you computer nerds out there can help a friend of mine with a minor problem she is having. I'll try to explain it as best I can. Here goes. You know the task bar at the bottom of the screen, well, she has one there when her computer is not on line but it goes away when she is on line? It has been there in the past but for some reason has disappeared. It's really now big deal except if you want to go to some other program say, you have to start all over. Does that make any sense? Hoping someone can help. Thanks

I'm no computer geek, but I know about this because it happens to me frequently!
Tell her to take her mouse and slowly move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. When it turns to a double (up/down) arrow, tell her to click on it and drag it up slowly. The task bar should return.
This happens in the opposite to disappear; somehow she clicks on that same line and drags it down to make the task bar disappear.
I hope this helps.

The other possibility is that her taskbar is set to auto-hide, so that it is automatically disappearing. Tell her to right-click on the taskbar and go to properties. Then she should make sure that auto-hide is turned off and that always on top is turned on. (Her options may be slightly different depending on what version of Windows she is on).

Or, her browser is set to "Full Screen." Hit the F11 key to toggle the brower between full screen & regular window.

Thanks for both of these suggestions. My friend tried them both and had marginal success. We were talking back and forth on instant message and from what I can tell her screen is a total mess. We have accused her computer of being haunted in the past and now we are sure of it. *LOL* She never knows what she'll find when turning the thing on in the morning. It's frustrating for me on the other end so I can only imagine what it's like for her. Oh well, I told her maybe it would find it's way home to the bottom of the screen just like it left home---mysteriously!!
