Hi Maelynn, Lisa, Stacey and everyone else:

A while back I was reading on this board about the Best of CL and the Best of CL II, and I got to thinking...

Since everyone here (me definitely included) loves giving and reading recipe feedback, it would be really neat if we could vote online on our favorite CL recipes, either of all time or, say, for 2000 (at the end of the year).

Maybe we could vote for our favorites in different categories (breads, meat, poultry, meatless ...) - basically all the same categories you use in the magazine's recipe index. We could vote by multiple choice, or by filling in our own responses on an online form, or a combination (e.g., multiple choice with an "other" option where we could type in the name of another recipe). And maybe you could list or publish the chosen recipes in either a regular CL issue or in one of the newsstand specials - or perhaps as a monthly feature like Best of the Best.

What do you all think? Just an idea...

I think this is a great idea! Maybe they could do "best ever" and a "best of 2000." And -- maybe they also could do a "worst of" category -- recipes that for whatever reason, didn't make the cut. Not that there are too many bad CL recipes, but there have been a few from time to time. . .

Super idea! They could put little stars in the annual or best of cookbooks by our favorite recipes and say something like "Voted a top-ten favorite by BB users".

I'm plotting my votes already...lemon swirl cheesecake, peanutty noodles, balsamic vinegar chicken, kahlua cinnamon brownies....I know I'm forgetting some!

This is reminding me of things I need to make again! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif

Natasha,

As someone who has only been subscribing to CL for a couple of months, I think that it's a great idea - lots of fun and gives us newcomers a chance to catch up and see what we have been missing!

Another vote for Natasha's suggestion. I often check out Epicurious' website and they have comments after each recipe from people who have tried that particular recipe. It's incredibly helpful to know people's feedback if you're contemplating making a recipe, but need a little more info. This would be a great feature for CL's website as well.

Yes, this is a great idea though choosing would be pretty difficult! I also like the idea mentioned on another thread about voting for our favorite issue of the year. So far for me that would be June, hands down (but thumbs up, way, way up)!

Thanks for all your responses and terrific ideas!

I do hope that we're able to do something like this. It sure would be hard to choose, but fun too.

I also really like Phoebe's idea (mentioned on another thread) of choosing our favorite issue of 2000.

And Mamasue, thanks again for the cute graphic and the website info. Has anyone seen the banana milkshake cow on that site? Very cute. And here he is, making a special guest appearance!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day (though I realize that it IS Monday...).

Ok, I'm not real computer literate, but I have to know -- How do you add those cute graphics to your posts? Is it possible to add them to emails?

Thanks a bunch!!

Cheryl,

I just followed Mamasue's instructions on this thread:
http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20000712-1-000199.html

Have fun! And yes, you can insert them in E-mails.

Natasha:

Thanks for leading me to Mamasue's directions. I'll have to play with them a little. Hubby and I are in the midst of what I'm calling our "long distance marriage" He is working 2 1/2 hours from home, and is only home from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon and it would be fun to send him some of these graphics.
