Has anyone had a non-stick pan coating just peel off? I got a new 13x9 pan recently, and it had only been used a couple of times (possibly brownies and a cake) when I used it to do a baked chicken dish. I put away the leftovers and went to rinse out the pan...I found the coating peeling off in a dozen or more places. I didn't see any in the leftovers, and hope we didn't eat any.

That's never happened to me. Did you check the instructions on the label? I have a metal 13 x 9 pan (not non-stick) that got weird after my husband put it in the dishwasher (I'd always handwashed it, for no particular reason).

If you can't return the pan to the store (actually, even if you can), you might want to write to or E-mail the manufacturer. They should be told if there's a problem, and they'll usually try to satisfy a dissatisfied customer if the pan is defective. I've received a new pair of sneakers from Asics, a new calendar from Hallmark and store credit from a junior (teen clothes) store when I (politely) complained. It's a well-known marketing adage that it's more effective to keep a current customer than it is to try to get a new customer. Good luck.

I've had that happen with cookware, rather than bakeware, but it was over a long period of time and the item in question had no doubt been badly abused by my somewhat aggressive approach to cooking. If you've followed the manufacturer's instructions, sounds like you got a lemon. Hope you can get your money back.

Beth, the same exact thing happened to me! I am not sure of the brand- it was a wedding shower gift. I used it for brownies and couple of times and then I made the mediterranean chicken from CL- the coating came off onto the chicken! This happened after I had the pan only a few months. I have a couple of similar pans and that never happened. It was really gross and my chicken was a weird gray color on the bottom. Now I line it with foil instead. I'm not taking any chances on my health.

Interesting to read your comments. I had also used this new (but not virgin) pan for baking, and then a baked chicken dish. The chicken was not discolored and we didn't find any flakes in the food. But I wonder if the baking followed by the chicken did something to the coating.

I did get my money back and I bought a new one that is the same weight and construction as my Caphalon without a non-stick coating. I have used Baker's Secret type pansfor a lot of baking over the years, but it seems I'm upgrading one pan at a time. By the way, the peeler wasn't a Baker's Secret, but similar price range. My greatest concern was whether we ate anything harmful, and I didn't know how bad a problem that would or could be. I think it only came off when I started to wash it and all is okay.

Although I have not had a nonstick coating just peel off after a few uses, I do have a set of nonstick pots and pans in which the coating has been slowly wearing. This particular brand has a lifetime warranty so I mailed the pot back to the company. I got a brand new one in the mail. So check out any warranties that there may be on your pan-perhaps the company will do something to make you a satisfied customer too.

What brand of nonstick cookware do any of you like? I'm considering buying some new frying pans and bakeware.
