My mom has been trying to create turkey meat loaf. My mother swears that the loaf grandma made always came out with a brown color like regular ground beef meat loaf. I've told her that I think she probably snuck some ground beef in there - because unless the ground turkey is all dark meat - there's no way the loaf could come out brown without some other ingredient turning it brown.
Am I wrong? Someone help. Doesn't turkey always turn into a lighter white-ish color when cooked?

i've found when i use ground turkey it browns pretty well. but, i made the mistake of using ground turkey BREAST once and it didn't brown, and it was dry.
i hope this helps.

I use Kitchen Bouquet for my turkey meatloaf so no one will know it's turkey. I also use to to brown the gravy at Thanksgiving. This stuff has been around for eons so maybe that is what your grandmother used.

There were probably other ingredients in the loaf to make it brown. Could it be?
I know that my aunt made a mean turkey meatloaf with onion soup mix that always came out a delicious meaty brown... even mushrooms or browning sauce would do it...

Comabri:
Kitchen bouquet is a browning and seasoning sauce for meat, gravy and stew. Its made of caramel vegetable base (carrot, onion, celery, parsnip, turnips, salt, parsley & spices and sulfite agents to preserve freshness.
Its great on your Thanksgiving turkey as it gives a golden color
