I think that these recipes where in July and August. I while ago a few of you where saying that the Shrimp Feta recipe is better than the Greek Scampi recipe. Did everyone seem to like these recipes? Would you make them again? Whould you change them? I was thinking of making one of these for a friend that will be coming over this weekend (who really loves pasta and shrimp). Are these "company worthy"? Or just good weekday meals? Thank you. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

May I make yet another suggestion? A big hit around here has been the Basil Shrimp with Feta and Orzo from March 2000. It's VERY simple to prepare and everyone I've made it for has LOVED it. Hope I didn't muddy the issue here! I liked this recipe over the Greek Scampi.

Mandy,
Thank you for posting this question, as I have been curious myself. I happen to make a very good scampi that was taught to me by an Italian friend; but sometimes I want to try something different with shrimp.

I enjoy reading the reviews here as it helps me to "cut to the chase" in selecting recipes and itwill be interesting to see the various answers.

Well, I was the one that posted about the shrimp feta reader recipe being better than the shrimp scampi. I just liked the taste better with the white wine--but the scampi has been on CL's top "best of the best" list for a long time. They were both good..I just like the other one better. It's definitely company-worthy. I would serve it with a tossed green salad and garlic bread.

Good luck.

Okay, I think there are actually 3 recipes that are very similar: shrimp with feta, basil, and orzo, from March; baked shrimp with feta from June(?), not sure about the month (I think this is the one with the wine); and then the scampi from the "best of". I tried the one with orzo, which was okay, and the baked shrimp with feta, which I really loved. This is a very impressive company dish. I was going to try the scampi, but it looked so similar to the baked shrimp with feta that I just didn't bother.

I love the basil, shrimp and orzo dish (the one made in the foil packet). Its one of my absolute fave CL recipes. I haven't tried the others yet, but both are on my list for the future.

I'm new here, and love reading everyone's reviews of the CL recipes http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Can someone post the recipe for the Shrimp with Feta and Orzo? I've "archived" my March issue, and cannot locate it http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

Thanks a bunch http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Caroline,

Here's the recipe.

Basil Shrimp With Feta and Orzo

1 regular-size foil oven bag
Cooking spray
1/2 cup uncooked orzo
2 teaspoons olive oil, divided
1 cup diced tomato
3/4 cup sliced green onions
1/2 cup (2 ounces) crumbled feta cheese
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

1. Preheat oven to 450º.

2. Coat inside of oven bag with cooking spray. Place the bag on a large shallow baking pan.

3. Cook the pasta in boiling water 5 minutes, omitting salt and fat; drain. Place the pasta in a large bowl. Stir in 1 teaspoon oil and next 7 ingredients (1 teaspoon oil through pepper). Place the orzo mixture in prepared oven bag. Combine shrimp and basil. Arrange shrimp mixture on orzo mixture. Fold edge of bag over to seal. Bake at 450º for 25 minutes or until shrimp are done. Cut open bag with sharp knife, and peel back the foil. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon oil.
