if you were told you could only make 1 meal for the rest of your life what would that be? (meal would include entree, side, salad, desert) remember you are going to eat it every single day... ;)

i have to think a minute before i come up with my favorite meal....

entree: this sundried tomato/chicken pasta dish

side dish: thinking it would have to be french cuts green beans with almonds

dessert: blueberry citrus cake

salad: cesear salad

Way too hard to choose. What ever it was, I'd get sick of it after a while. Although, you make me want to try your choices.

For the rest of my life. . . that could be a long time: But I could go awhile on this:

Soup: Hot and Sour Soup
Entree: Moo Shu Vegetables
Side: Steamed Brocoli w/ "potsticker" sauce
Desert: Fresh Fruit Salad

I could eat grilled portabella mushroom salad for a long time too . . . but it is already a huge meal, and I wouldn't serve both moo shu and a salad.

Veggie sandwich on nine grain bread (from Panera Bread)
Fandango salad (lettuce, mandarin oranges, gorgonzola, walnuts, fat free raspberry dressing - also from Panera Bread)
I don't know about the rest.

But every time I eat this meal from Panera, I always comment, "I could eat this every day - I love it so much".....

I agree with Bev - anything I pick would get old after awhile, but this is one meal that I think I could eat for a really long time:

spicy squid, from Korea House (a local Korean eatery that makes the BEST spicy stir-fry dishes)
egg flower/drop soup
vegetable or pork potstickers
steamed white rice

I took the liberty of adding a couple of extra sides since I didn't include a salad or dessert. :D

Spicy squid for breakfast . . . I think I will try that tomorrow! :D

entree: Something with tomatoes and pasta. I would die without pasta

side dish: Fruit (could we rotate?)

dessert: Chocolate ice cream.

salad: The house salad from the Tomato head - with honey carrot salad dressing.

Entree: Shrimp Pad Thai
Salad: A Greek salad with lots of feta cheese
Side Dish: Fresh veggie spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce
Dessert: Fresh from the oven, chewy chocolate chip cookies

Of course, my choices wouldn't really go together...

I'd have to say:

Entree: Linguine and white clams from Carmine's in NY (do you have ANY idea how big my rear end would be by the time they found me?
Alternate: Druken noodles from Tuck Tuck rest in LA
Salad: Pear salad with endive and goat cheese and carmelized pecans
Dessert: Brownies - any form. Not frosted with milk.

Options: Pretzels with great wisconsin cheddar cheese and a reg coke. Haven't had much if any of the above in years!

This is fun!
I thought about this for a while and it's a toss up for me between:

1. Sushi meal
Ohitashi (steamed spinach with sesame paste and bonito flakes)
Futo maki and avocado rolls
Miso soup
Lots of sticky sushi rice
Green tea

or

2. Home cooked
Thick slices of my sourdough bread accompanied by:
Roasted garlic, goat cheese, grilled veggies
arugula salad with avocado
Fresh mango and pineapple slices
and perhaps a little peanut butter cup Ben and Jerry's

Maybe I could alternate between the two!!

Entree: Shish Kebab? (endless variations in veggies and meats, and besides, I love the stuff!)

Side Dish: Some sort of fish chowder

Dessert: Strawberry shortcake

Salad: Waldorf salad like my SIL makes using apples, dates, walnuts celery and a dressing that uses whipped lowfat topping and lowfat mayo. To die for!

It's all quick and easy!

For me (like Beccathebaker) it would definately be Sushi!

Miso soup
Seaweed salad
Unagi, Tuna and Salmon Nigiri
Spicy Tuna and Spider Rolls
Yellowtail Sashimi
Sticky rice
Green Tea

I know it doesn't really "go" with sushi, but I'd pick a hearty red wine also

This was really fun to think about!

salad: tabbouli (arabic salad with parsley, bulgur, tomatoes, etc.) with a little feta thrown in

entree: hmmmmmmm.... I think it would have to be this persian shish kebab with ground beef and sumac called a koobideh... and it has to come with the nice fresh flatbread and the yogurt and cucumber sauce (mast-o-khiyaar)

veggie side: some kind of okra with tomatoes. I love okra!

dessert: no idea... this one is the hardest... I can think of few sweets that I would want EVERY day. Maybe a freshly made mango ice cream... no, or even better, just some nice freshly sliced mangoes with a little cream. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I could definitely eat that every day!

I like reading these responses, keep them coming!
