Heading down to Destin/Seaside area around first of October. We always seem to go to our same restaurants, but I'd like to try some new ones. Any ideas???

Where is this? West Coast? East Coast? Which state? Sorry, but I've never heard of this area.....

I'm voting for the east coast. Only Seaside I know of is right above Monterey, CA.

Lagniappe is good-dinner expensive, the elephant walk - dinner expensive, the backporch is a great beach/lunch place. They have great restaurants and many new ones since I've been there last.

FYI - the backporch was the one place the "locals" made popular, and for the expensive dinner the elephant walk has been the place.

Grace, Destin is in the Florida panhandle - white sand beaches and Emerald green waters. It's one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Sorry jjcokc, I haven't been there in years, so I can't recommend anything. Enjoy your trip! JennyLiz

oooh - i love seaside - i grew up just east of it and remember it even before it was developed. they have done a wonderful job building a beautiful little town and there are wonderful restaurants!
2 of my favorites are Cafe 30A and Creola's (i think that is what it is called) - it is just west of the main area in town. have fun and enjoy all of the good food.

for those of you who don't know where it is -it was the setting for the movie The Truman Show with Jim Carey - although it is nothing like the movie;-).

yippee! i'm going to destin next week for a girl's weekend! my college friends and i are road tripping it... we are from atlanta, kansas city, new york, boston, charlotte-nc, and london. we, the self-appointed "Bad Girls on the Open Road" are meeting in atlanta and driving down in my friend's suv! i'm the 'Director of Leisure and Games'. we all have a specific "position". i can't wait!

thanks for the restaurant ideas!!! i will forward the suggestions to our 'Director of Food and Drink'!

Just in case you need anymore suggestions ...the restaurants that have been named thus far are scattered from Seaside to Destin. It's about 45 minutes between the two. I thought I would list a couple of my personal favorites....

Red Bar (long-time favorite)
Cuvee Beach
Pandora's
AJ's (fun atmosphere)
Harbor Docks

Criolla's and Cafe 30-A are tops!!

Have a great trip!

The 2 I mentioned are in Seaside. Cafe 30A is about 5 min east of the center of town and Creola's is a couple of min west of the center of town.
Stacey mentioned the Red Bar too - I forgot about that one - very fun at night - good for lunch too. Have fun!!
