I'm assuming most of you are watching the Olympics. Have you noticed the commercial for the new GE Advantium oven?

"How fast does Advantium cook?
Advantium cooks in 1/4th the time on average a conventional oven takes. Also, it requires no preheating so you can start cooking your food as soon as you're ready"

I'm getting the itch to try a new appliance...so why not a $1300 one? Yikes!
So here's the question: Who has heard of this, who has one, who knows someone who has one...etc, etc

Seriously, I don't know that I'm going to shell out the money for something like this right now but it sure has my attention.

We're in the process of building a new house so I've been checking out kitchen appliances. All the major manufacturers seem to have these super fast ovens. BHG magazine did an article on them in their last issue I believe but I've decided to go with Dacor's 48" Epicure ProFormer, it's a restaurant style range with 6 burners and two ovens and so many cool details! I guess that I prefer more "goodies" for my buck!

OOOOOOOOOO! You'll love a Dacor. We have a Dacor gas cooktop in our last house and are planning on putting one in this house with the pop-up downdraft (an island necessity). I wish I had room for a 48"!

It's been a while since this subject was discussed. I'm moving and I have the perfect spot for one of the Advantium Over the Range models. Any comments from anyone that has one?

Thanks in advance.

This may not help you if you're in a rush, but my in-laws are currently remodeling their kitchen. They are having the Advantium installed sometime in the next couple of weeks. If it's not too late by then, I'll let you know how they like it.

Is that the oven with the ad where the family is rushing to get to a football game, and the mom offers to cook them a turkey? Out of curiosity, we asked about it once when we were buying a new fridge at Lowe's, and the guy said that that store had never sold one. So, apparently they are not selling well!

I heard that the Advantium has been pulled from the market temporarily due to technical problems. You may want to contact a dealer for more info.

My parents are finishing up redoing their kitchen and they are getting an Advantium. My father is so excited - he does all the cooking. DH works for GE so he is able to get them a nice discount.

SusanT is right though, the Advantium was unavailable recently due to some "software" problems. As of last weekend though, according to my dad, they are available again and my parents are due to get theirs by November 10.

I'll keep you posted!

If you go to www.thathomesite.com then go to the forums, under appliances do a search on advantium..there are loads of people there that have both the 120 version and the 240 version..they all seem to like them. I also looked at epinions.com..people there like them a lot..google food groups have a plethora of information on them..the only complaint appears to be the cost. Hope that this was helpful.
