I am a wee bit frustrated in that I've been trying to buy pomegranite molasses for a couple of months now and can't find it.
Nor can my top-notch grocery store get it from suppliers.
I've also tried to find a source on-line to no avail. Anyone have a good website I can check out? Also, I think I'd like to purchase some figs this way as I can't seem to locate those either. Thanks

Shelly -
Here it is at Ethnicgrocer.com...
www.ethnicgrocer.com (http://www.ethnicgrocer.com)
I didn't check to see if they had figs or not - sorry!
What are you making with pomegranate molasses?
OK, I give up - I tried getting the link to go directly to the pomegranate molasses page, but it wouldn't work. when you get to the main page, just type in molasses in the search box and it'll pop right up - I also checked for figs - they sell dried ones only.

Grace, excellent, thank you thank you!
The first recipe that caught my eye was back in May..the Spinach Salad with Pomegranite dressing. Then I just saw one in either the September or October issue...the name escapes me at the moment but I remember thinking, "If I only had the molasses I could try both recipes."
Thanks, I'll let you know what happens.

Found it also at www.tavolo.com. (http://www.tavolo.com.)
As you said, there was a recipe calling for it in the Oct issue; I can't remember it either, just remember that it looked good!

Shoyski,
I made the spinach salad with pomegranite dressing twice now using the substitution listed in the recipe for the molasses. Lime juice and honey were used in place of the molasses. The dressing was delicious.
If you find the pomegranate molasses, I have an awesome recipe for a Turkish roasted red pepper dip called Muhammara. I make it all the time - it's so easy. It's not exactly "light" but it's not too bad (I cut way back on the original amt of oil it called for).
MUHAMMARA
a 7-ounce jar roasted red peppers, drained
2/3 cup fine fresh bread crumbs
1/3 cup walnuts, toasted lightly and chopped fine
2 to 4 garlic cloves, minced and mashed to a paste with 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
2 teaspoons pomegranate molasses*
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
toasted pita triangles as an accompaniment
*available at Middle Eastern markets
In a food processor blend together the peppers, the bread crumbs, the walnuts, the garlic, the lemon juice, the pomegranate molasses, the cumin, the red pepper flakes, and salt to taste until the mixture is smooth and with the motor running add the oil gradually. Transfer the muhammara to a bowl and serve it at room temperature with the pita triangles.
Makes about 1 3/4 cups.
Enjoy!

If you have a Price Club/Costco near you, you may have some luck finding figs. We got ~3.5 lbs. this weekend at our Price Club in Northern Virginia. They usually stock them near the raisins & other snack foods.

Veronica, would you believe I've never heard of those two places before I started logging on to this board? I finally found a Wild Oats store but it's about an hour from my house. I'm going to call them and if all else fails, use the websites that everyone so helpfully supplied.
LSB, thanks for the recipe. I will definitely be trying it.
