You can also buy pre-crushed oreos (and graham crackers) in the baking section of your grocery if you're short on time.

I'm always short on time, but I could not find the pre-crushed ones in my grocery store. I found chocolate crusts but not packages of pre-crushed cookies. Stacey..thanks. I know that I am raising the fat and calorie level of the cheesecake by using the reduced fat but I hate FF cream cheese. Maybe now that I have heard others say it is good with the 3/1 ratio, I may try it and see next time.

I have found the precrushed oreos with all the ice cream toppings. Hope that helps!

Okay, it's me again...the non-baker. If the recipe says 1 cup of crushed chocolate cookies (like Oreos), do you crush them with or without the filling? By the way, I decided to go with 100% reduced fat cheese instead of the 3/1 ratio FF to RF. Thanks for your opinions. Finally, once I make this cheesecake, can I freeze left over slices individually? Please help me!!!

iqueen -- I think you could do either. I personally enjoy a bit of filling in my crust (plus, I'm not about to stand there scraping oreo filling off of cookies for an hour).

Otherwise, you can buy plain chocolate wafers and avoid the filling issue altogether http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Hi-
If the recipe suggests a creme-filled cookie such as Oreos, you crush them creme-intact unless otherwise specified. The reduced fat cream cheese will work fine, but it will change the nutrition information quite a bit. As for freezing, you can freeze left over slices, but make sure you use wax paper before any other wrap is applied because it will make the slices easier to handle after freezing. Hope this helps....Let me know how it turns out!!
