I am recently engaged and my future in-laws are coming to spend Thanksgiving with my family this year. I have been tasked with making mashed potatoes and dessert. For dessert, I definitely want to make an apple pie and something else (though I'm not sure what yet). I have been searching this bulletin board and found a couple apple pie recipes that sound good. Any opinions on which of these I should make?

Streusel Apple Pie
Apple Cider Pie
Caramel-Apple Crumb Pie

I really want to impress my DF's parents! I appreciate your help!:) Thanks to you all, I've gotten a reputation for making yummy desserts (Honeyed Apple Torte, Cinnamon Apple Cake, Blueberry Lemon Poundcake, etc.) I love CL and this BB!

My vote would be for the Apple Cider Pie. It is not as sweet as "traditional" apple pie. YUM! It is heavenly!

I made the Caramel Apple Pie, and while it was good, it was a little too sweet for me.

Last year I did an Apple Cranberry Pie. I like that too, because it was not so sweet.

I haven't made either of the other two, but I love the Apple Cider Pie. It's delicious, and pretty easy. It was the first pie I ever made and it came out perfectly.

I make LOTS of apple pies - my two favorites are the Streusel Apple Pie, or the Blue Ribbon Apple pie. The Blue Ribbon apple pie is a more traditional pie with the piecrust on the top, but the filling is incredible - it uses four different kinds of apples. The Streusel apple pie is just that, it has a struesel topping, and is easier if you're not that great with pie dough. Everyone loves that one too, and it's my husband's favorite. Good luck with whichever one you choose!

I second Grace. The Blue Ribbon Apple Pie is a wonderful blend of apples. I had never made a home made pie crust before, and it actually looked prety good in the end. The Streusel Apple Pie, if you can picture it, is kind of like Apple Crisp in a pie dough- very easy and tastes great.

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I'm going to go with the Streusel Apple Pie. It sounds really good and, since this will be my first pie, the fact that it seems fairly easy works for me too!:)

Thanks again!
