View Full Version : Cuban Dish - Healthy Picadillo
I've been reading my Oct. issue of CL. Has anyone tried the Adelita Silva-Lopez recipe Healthy Picadillo? I'd like to try it but my husband and I don't usually eat beef. Does anyone have any substitution suggestions?
We went to Key West this past June and I had wonderful "picadillo". I'd like to bring it "up north" and fix it for friends and family.

I've made picadillo w/ ground pork and ground turkey. You could also try ground chicken. Season it well and it should be delicious - it's one of my favorites. Try putting red, yellow, and/or orange peppers in it as well.

I make picadillo with ground turkey. Now you can make it with half pork half turkey, which its very good. Please note it will change calories, fat etc

CJM, This recipe looked good to me also, however I don't eat meat or poultry. I have been pretty successful substituting TVP (texture vegetable protein-a soy product, lots of protein and no fat)for ground meat or chicken.
