OK, I am loathe to post this because I know its going to sound so weird but...you know those slippers that look like bear feet? (Think Val Kilmer in Real Genius). My boyfriend has been asking for a pair every Xmas for years and I have looked high and low and have yet to find a pair in any store or anywhere on the internet even. I've started checking ebay but I rarely see his size and lately these things have started going for upwards of $35 a pair on there! I'm not paying that for what is basicly a joke gift - though I think he would really wear them. Plus on ebay what if they're used...ewww!
So - have any of you ever seen these in any store anywhere recently? I'm thinking no one has manufactured these things since about 1987 but I could be wrong and I'd love to surprise him. I know this sounds like a candidate for the worst gift thread but I swear I give good gift normally - he just keeps asking for these silly things!

I know you said you already checked the Internet, so I'm guessing you've already nixed these for one reason or another:

They only go up to a mens' 10, so if your BF has big feet, they probably wouldn't work. And they're called bear feet, but they're sort of tiger-striped! You're right - I wouldn't have thought they'd be so expensive.

Sorry I can't be of more help - I hope you find what you're looking for! I'm on a hunt right now for a big American flag patch for DH's motorcycle jacket and am having no luck either. :( I know how frustrating it can be when you're convinced that someone out there must have exactly what you want, but you can't find them!

I saw those in little kids sizes in the last month, and I thought I saw some at Target or Famous Footwear last year. You might check them if you have either near you. I know Famous Footwear is related to some other companies, but I can't rmember any of their names offhand. Walmart might have things like that around the holidays too -- dunno.

I just did a basic quick seach:

These might work (they are in Australia).

I found a version for women for $20:

I found brand new ones on ebay:

Peeps,

Not sure if you're still looking, but I saw an ad for bear-looking slippers in men's and women's sizes at Rite-Aid Drug Stores this week. Don't know if you have them in your area or not. Might check it out if you are still searching...

Thanks for thinking of me Peggy - wouldn't you know I bought a pair LAST NIGHT on ebay. I'd pretty much sworn off ebay for them because I think everyone must have the same idea as me or something because they have been going for $30-40 a pair, I kid you not!! Geez- who would pay $40 for these things? But I found a pair that had a "buy it now" option for cheaper and I grabbed them, knowing I could resell them if I find them cheaper elsewhere. So I'll check out Rite-Aid, we must have one around here, and see if they are a better deal there.
Thanks!!

I was thinking of you when I was out shopping and didn't see bear slippers anywhere! Glad you found a pair.
