I have made a few changes to the original recipe with absolutely wonderful results! This crisp tastes like an old fashioned apple crisp my grandmother would have made so I wanted to share with you what I did. We happen to be ginger lovers so I punched up the ginger in the recipe by adding 1/4cup chrystallized ginger to the apples. We are not particularly fond of pears baked in a crisp like this so I did not use any pears, just 3lbs of pippin apples. I also increased the cinnamon to 1 tsp and added 1/2 cup brown sugar to compensate for the tartness of the apples. I felt the dates would go well with the molasses so I chose them over the raisins. Yummmmmmy! A great dessert for a crisp fall day.
