Has anyone ever used an herb mincer? I've seen them in various cooking catalogs and wonder if they are worth the money? Are they easy to clean? Do they work well, etc?
Any input would be great! Thanks!

I haven't gotten one (yet) but you'll find some comments on the subject from Lorilei in the old thread concerning kitchen gadgets: www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20000720-1-000074-2.html (http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20000720-1-000074-2.html)

I have one from WS. I never use it because it just mashed the herbs. I put a thread out a long time ago on this and someone suggested maybe the herb (basil at the time) was not dry enough. Who knows? All I know is mine sits unused and I chop with a rocker blade and board or put the herbs in a coffee mug and use scissors.

I'd asked this very question some time ago. I'd seen an herb mincer gadget in the Williams Sonoma catalog. As I recall, one respondant said it worked great; another said it didn't work at all. I haven't gotten around to investigating this any further, and just continue to use scissors. Oh, well.

We do have an herb mincer -- an Oxo gadget that I must confess is wonderful when you need the herbs to be in very small pieces. It comes apart for easy cleaning, and seems to chop the herbs uniformly enough.

My husband LOVES this gadget -- so I'm happy to let him mince away while I attend to other things.
