View Full Version : MUST-TRY RECIPE: Rum Fruitcake!

RUM FRUITCAKE
1 c butter
1 c granulated sugar
1 c brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 c candied fruit
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 c chopped nuts
2 quarts rum

Before you begin, sample the rum to check for quality. Good, isn't it? Now proceed. Select a large mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons. Check the rum again. It must be just right. To assure that the rum is of the highest quality, pour one level cup of rum into a measuring cup and drink as fast as you can. Then repeat. With an electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 seaspoon of thugar and beat again. Meanwhile, check the rum to be sure that the quality is still good. Drink another cupful. Open second quart, if necessary. Add 3 arge leggs, 2 cups fried druit and beat till high. If druit gets stuck in the beaters, just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the rum again, checking for tonscisticity. Next, sift 3 cups of pepper or salt (it really doesn't matter. ) Sample the rum again. Sift 1/2 pint of lemon juice. Fold in chopped butter and strained nuts. Add 1 babblespoon of brown thugar, or whatever color you can find. Wix mell. Grease oven and turn cake pan to 350 gredees. Now pour the whole mess into the coven and dake. Check the rum again, and bo to ged.

Lynn, that was cute! And you really got me. I thought... "2 quarts of rum!!!" And then, "Where's the flour?"
