Good Morning All:
I am considering purchasing the Complete Cooking Light Cookbook, but wanted some others opinions. I purchased the 5-Star Cookbook, but find that I don't use it very much, and didn't want to make the same mistake twice.
Thanks for your thoughts.

In my opinion the CL Complete Cookbook is their best! :) I have made more recipes from that one book than my 11 CL Annuals combined. Search on Ebay, Half.com or even some liquidation bookstores for the best prices, because I saw it at a liquidation store last summer for $9.95!

CL Complete is my *favorite.* I also don't love my 5-star book. But CL Complete is worthwhile - tons of recipes, lots of pictures, and it is categorized. The joy!
I am planning to purchase on for my sister for xmas. I checked two days ago and the lowest price on half.com is around $20. There is an ebay auction ending soon that is currently going for $10.99. I don't want this one because they said it is slightly worn - won't work as a gift. But it might work for you:

I asked the same question last year as which to buy...the 5 Star or the Complete. Everyone said to get the Complete & I am glad I did. Great as a reference/idea source as well as a great cookbook.

In definite agreement with Jewel- CL Complete is excellent. Funny you should mention the 5-Star Cookbook. I was just looking through it this weekend and thinking how rarely I use it anymore It does have quite a number of 'Quick and Easy" recipes I used when my time to cook was much more limited than now. I think it's a great book for a novice or very time-pressed cook. CL Complete is far more comprehensive- there's just more "there" there.

I also like the CL Complete better than the 5 Star. I've found that alot of the recipes I pulled from the magazines were in the book so I was able to clean out my binders! And I have cooked more out of it since joining the bulletin board from everyone's recommendations!

I have and like both of them but I find that I use the Complete CL more than the 5 star. It is also an excellent reference. Like Jewel, I have seen it for $10.00, it pays to look around for a bargain.
I have the Complete CL book and really like it. I have thought about getting the 5 Star, but would probably get it used or through the Good Cook book club.

I'm also considering getting the CL complete cookbook but since I recently purchased MasterCook CL 5.0, I'm not sure whether the cookbook would duplicate what's already in the software. Does it make sense to have the book too?

Add me to the list of Complete Cooking Light Cookbook lovers! I was reluctant to buy it at first, but a friend convinced me. I use it all the time and have had very few negative results.

Add me to the list. I have the Complete Cooking Light as well. It is well worth the investment. I have made many recipes from it. And shared just as many with friends!

I'm out of the loop! I knew that CL offered the Annual recipe cookbook, but it appears that they also offer a Complete cookbook??????

In my opinion, the Complete Cooking Light Cookbook
has a wide range of recipes that include basics.
Very useful.

...though I got mine on eBay...
I also got the five-star book. I've marked both up rather badly, too, but don't regret it.

This is my cooking bible! I use it all of the time! I got mine for like $20 with a free lunch bag from CL or Oxmoor - but it was worth it. I've looked at other CL cookbooks - - but they don't seem to offer as much!
