I know there are many older posts about bread machines so I finally have to have one.
I'm specifically interested in which brands and models you have (and approximate costs). I've been to the web sites of Breadman and Zojirushi (sp?). Any others you'd recommend?
Does anyone have a Williams Sonoma? Saw it in the store yesterday and it looks nice.
Thanks for your help!

I just got the Zojirushi BBCC-V20, which Cooking Light rated as one of the best in the high-end price category (It was a gift and I think it was around $175). I am very happy with it. It bakes a very nice horizontal loaf. It also has 2 paddles for kneading (because it really is a horizontal loaf).
King Arthur Flour http://www.kingarthurflour.com/cgibin/start/ahome/main.html , an EXCELLENT resource for baking and MANY, MANY varieties of flours, likes The Breadman Ultimate TR2200C and the Zojirushi BBCCQ-20 Super Bread Machine. The sell the Breadman for $200 and the Zojirushi for $120.
on a side note, I have ordered many supplies, flours, and specialty ingredients from King Arthur and have been pleased with everything. They are an excellent resource.

I saw a copy of the article when I was shopping for my bread machine. I'm sorry that I can't be more specific. Once I saw the copy of the article (not noticing the date) and also saw that King Arthur liked it, my decision was made. There are so many machines out there that I found the search for a good one to be overwhelming.

Thanks Robin, I was wondering where you saw that CL recommends the Zojirushi brand?

Tell me more about the Welbilt! I just got one for a wedding present and I want to know if it is a keeper or if I should return it for a different brand. You say you're very happy--how happy?

I have a welbilt, I think, and have been happy with it. I think it's one of the bargain brands that rates well. I vaguely remember CL's ratings of bread machines, too... think it might have been in an early 2000 issue (maybe January) where they talk about new kitchen gadgets/must-haves for the millenium.

I too have a WelBilt -- and I'm very happy with it. I've had it for two years with nery a problem... and I would definitely recommend it for the price.
