If you try any of these make it the coconut banana one! This was definately a different apple crisp, very fruity. Boy was it good!!!! I can see why it made it on the editors list of favorites for this month!

hi all
i made the Cranberry orange Apple Crisp on pg 103 of the Oct. issue. The orange taste with the apples was a little strange but palatable. It was the crumb topping with CORNMEAL that was the best thing about this dessert. if i had to do it over, i would have substituted golden raisins for the berries and omitted the orange zest and juice and used cinammon and vanilla instead. But i would keep the fantastic cornmeal topping. i would of ate every piece of apple with the topping but i saved it for my guests!!
I tried the coconut banana apple crisp this weekend. I did not have any rome apples in the house and did not want to go to the store so I just used Braeburn which I like a lot. HOWEVER, my filling was runny (very juicy). The topping was very good. Denise, was your filling runny? Do you think it was the type of apple. Maybe next time I should add some flour to the apple mixture.

My daughter made the Caramel Apple Crisp last night. She said the topping was "mushy," not in crumbs at all. Anyone try this? Any ideas?

I made the coconut banana apple crisp and my apples were runny also. I think the topping with the coconut is the best part of this crisp and the next time I'll use fewer apples, and add a little flour to the apples. The taste was very good though and I'll repeat it.

I made the caramel crisp and also thought the toppoing was mushy. Because of that when I made the coconut banana crisp I used 2/3 of the apples called for, made a little extra topping, and cooked it in two pans spread thin. It didn't turn out runny and the top was crispy. Just the way I like it!

I made the Maple-Walnut Crisp last night and it was wonderful - especially since my husband peeled the apples for me http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif . Next it's the Spicy Autumn Crisp...

I made the Amaretto Apple Crisp last night. I didn't have enough Granny Smith apples so I used half G.S./half McIntosh apples. The filling was slightly runny, but the crisp as a whole was very good -- the topping was very crisp. We might try it without the almonds in the topping next time. My husband thought it was great overall, but was lukewarm on the almonds.
I tried the Spicy Autumn Crisp at home and then we made it again at our cooking group evening. Both times it was downright yummy!

I made the amaretto apple crisp, too. I used all macintosh apples since that was all I had and they did seem a bit mushy. I think it was the macintosh apples. Probably need a firmer apple for this one. The top was definitely crunchy. I will make it again. It was delicious. My husband and I both liked it alot.

I also made the amaretto apple crisp. I used Granny Smith apples. They got very mushy in the dish. I don't know if I sliced them too thin....The apples were very tart. I would say this may or may not be a repeater in my house.

I also made the Maple-Walnut Crisp last weekend and everyone liked it. Crisps are so easy that this will definetly be repeated. Next up for me is also the Spicy Autumn Crisp. I'm going to try it with all apples though as both my son and husband don't really like pears.
