I hope someone can answer this quickly. Dinner is in 2 hours.
Does whole wheat couscous require any longer time to absorb liquid than regular couscous?

Norma,
We've been using Trader Joe's whole wheat couscous, and as it says on the box, the cooking time is the same as for regular couscous.
If, however, you're just using bulk couscous, this is what the Joy of Cooking says (paraphrased):
1 1/4 c. quick cooking whole-wheat couscous should be stirred into 1 1/2 c. boiling water or stock in the pot, covered, cooked over low heat for 5 minutes, and then allowed to stand for 10 minutes. Uncover and fluff with a fork or chopstick.
So it looks like it will take a little bit longer. Enjoy your dinner!

Where is a good place to get whole wheat couscous? There is no Trdader Joe's here in Cincinnati.

I've found the whole wheat kind at Kroger, Harris Teeter and Wild Oats.

Laden,
Thanks for the quick response. Our Wild Oats has only been open about a month; I keep forgetting about it. I will try there first; maybe they even have it in bulk.

Con,
I would have asked the same Q. I've not heard of whole wheat couscous. Let me know if you find it and I'll do the same!
