I would like to try beef ribs in my slow cooker. I heard that I could spice the meat, add the sauce, wrap in tin foil and toss it in the slow cooker.
1. Does anyone have a recipe for this?

2. Is it safe to wrap something in foil and cook it in the slow cooker without any liquid?

I've done ribs in the crock pot before, but I just threw the ribs in and poured the BBQ sauce over them--very liberally. Let it cook for about 8 hours on low. They were tender and falling off the bone.

I'd be wary of running my slow cooker with no liquid in it which is what you'd have if everything was wrapped in foil. That sounds more like the method for slow cooking in the oven. I too have just put them in with the
b-b-q sauce and they were wonderful I also did the same thing with flank steak rolled up and put in standing on the short end, then shredded for sandwiches http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

You can wrap something in tin foil and put it in your slow cooker, but you do need to add a bit of liquid to it. I've done ham this way -- cover small ham with brown suger and pineapple, wrap in tinfoil, but in slow cooker with about 1/2 cup water, and let it cook on low all day.

When my mom makes ribs in the slow cooker, she browns them first, puts them in the slow cooker with BBQ sauce, and cooks all day.
