I am into my 3rd day of my own 21-day challenge and unfortunately I am limited to my treadmill because of severe time constraints. It is sooooooo boring to me that I fear I'll give up if I don't get some decent music to walk to. Someone gave me a cassette to use (funk music from the 70's) and it's got a great beat but I need more. Any suggestions? I'm going for 30 minutes right now averaging between 3.5 and 4 mph. Thanks for any help.

There are a lot of music tapes designed for walking. They set up the music so you walk an average number of miles per minutes and keep a steady pace for you. Walk to the Beat is one example. You could find them probably at walmart and music stores. Just ask the sales person for exercise music. If you have more time, Shape magazine sells those tapes. I know you can order them from the back of the magazine. Good luck.

try a search on this topic as I posted the same question several months ago. We have had such nice weather I am still walking outside! But I am dreading those winter months on the track.

The best source I've found is www.sportsmusic.com . They have music paced for just about every type of activity, and just about every genre of music as well. My most recent order included an intermediate level (3.4-3.6 mph) Classical Beat walking tape that I am really enjoying. You can listen to sound clips from nearly all of their selections, too, so you can find a tape to match your needs. I hope you find something useful -- I know how tedious the treadmill can be!

workinprogress,

Thanks for the link- wow! I'm excited...the treadmill can get a little dreary this time of year and I didn't know about that site.

Love that screen name!
