Has anyone tried the 4/00 Jewish Apple Cake? I need to make a cake to bring into work. I was going to make the lemon sour cream pound cake from this issue (which is great), but then came accross the apple cake.

Please let me know. Thank you!

Haven't tried the Jewish Apple Cake, but would encourage you to think about the Cinnaom Apple Cake from January 2000--it's one of the ten best recipes of all time (at the end of the issue). Makes a beautiful cake and your co-workers would fight for the last piece. Also very easy to make.

You are right - I think that was a cover cake a couple of years ago - it is fabulous. If I dont' get any good words on the Jewish Apple Cake I will make that - good idea. I am hankering to try something new if possible.

Just tried the Jewish Apple cake this past weekend and it was wonderful, I would bake this cake any time for any event. Very easy to make....

i have made the cinnamon apple cake about 3 times. It's very good. When I made the first time I made it for a church group. To make it neat, I borrowed my stepmother's menoroh and put a nativity scene next to the two cakes. People loved the idea combining the best of both worlds. Make sure you use a bread knife to cut it.

Dear Homecook - Thanks so much. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I will be making it tomorrow pm!

Thanks to the good feedback, I made this cake last night for a breakfast this am - it was delicious and easy!! I highly recommend it - I think it is a hidden treasure in the April 00 issue! Every one kept asking what bakery it came from (it is very good looking!)

Ugh.....I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry - but would someone please be willing to post the recipe? I don't save past issues (shame on me, I know) - I terrorize my issues by pulling things out that I think we'd like; and I have so many recipes for apple cake, I probably glazed right over this. Listening to all the raves, I'd love to try it......

I'll second that request! I was going to make the Cinnamon Apple cake, but discovered I don't have the right pan for it. Would like to stop at the store after work to pick up the ingredients.
