Okay everybody I am going to show my ignorance and ask what all of these acronyms mean...such as ISO, TVP, LOL, etc. Please provide us newbies some hints.
Hi iqueen, you are not alone!! I just asked what the heck TVP means!
I can tell you that ISO is "in search of" and LOL is "laughing out loud."
Still am scratching my head on TVP though...

TVP is Textured Vegetable Protein. Bijoux22 posted a thread about it late last month, and also gave a recipe for Shepard's Pie. (There's also a new thread with the same recipe that was posted today)

You might want to keep this website in mind when you run into an acronym you don't recognize:

The shorthand-language seems to be a symptom of our culture these days. We all speak in TLA's (three letter acronyms)

Lorelei-thank you for the great acronym web site! I am going to link it from my school web page-I think my students will also get a kick out of it!
(sorry-I realize this has nothing to do with food!)

Lorelei, You are my computer guru!!! I thank you for that. You can't begin to know how much time I have had to sit and stare to figure out what a grouping of letters mean. And don't even let me tell you how far off I usually am. Thanks! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif

Another one they use at the Epicurious website is T&T, for a "tried and true" recipe.

Thanks for asking the question, iqueen! I have been wondering what LOL means for ages now but haven't had the courage to ask!

When I first started reading the bulletin board and I read LOL I thought and thought and could only come up with lots of love, I thought boy these people really love cooking!! But when it kept popping up I figured it must have another meaning, one day I was sitting and reading a thread when I began laughing my fool head off and realized when I saw the LOL at the end it meant laugh out loud. I still snicker when I see LOL.
