A supper-club friend recently suggested I check out "eDiets" web site because I mentioned that I want to loose some weight. I've looked a bit, but I'm wondering what my trusty fellow CL readers think.
Has anybody ever been a subscriber? Or have a review about ediets?
Is it expensive? Is it worth signing up?
Any thoughts, advice and especially reviews about ediets is appreciated!:)
Thanks - Katie

I belong to a discussion group that is focussed on weight loss. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' ways with this group - non-condemning, etc. - and several folks have tried eDiets and like it.
More than that, I can't tell you. I'd be curious to see what everyone else says.

I signed up about a year ago and was really disappointed, only because the diet is about 1000 calories per day and very basic. Toast, coffee and juice for breakfast, salad and a bit of protein for lunch, etc. Personally, I think anyone with common sense can find the same eating plan anywhere! If it's the accountability you're looking for, try Weight Watchers Online! $14.95 per month and you get all kinds of online tools to help. I just signed up yesterday! (Thanks JeAnne! :D ) It's not as limiting and easier to live with in my opinion!

Actually, Weight Watchers is just about the best thing going. Right now they are waiving the sign-up fee (which is $15) if you go to the meetings.
As a side note, I was trying on clothes this weekend, visiting in the Philadelphia area, where I used to live. A woman in the room said, "You look familiar to me." Well, she looked familiar to me, too, but younger than the person I thought whe was. Turns out, it was her - she had lost 55 lbs since March on Weight Watchers, and looked wonderful! It was impressive - and this lady was in her late 50's, too.
Guess who's going back to Weight Watchers this evening?

I just signed up at www.dietwatch.com. I had thought about joining Weight Watchers but money is a little tight right now. I got a 12 week membership for $50.
The site allows you to track your food and exercise. You can sign up for a meal plan or not, depending on what you want to do. The advice they have seems pretty sensible. I've already found out a lot about my own habits (like I may be eating too hearty of a breakfast!). The thing that helps me most to lose weight is good old fashioned calorie counting and this site makes it super easy.

Whether you go to meeting, join WW online, or just do it on your own- check out http://www.dwlz.com The site has so much info:recipes, point info, bb, food buying tips, etc. It's a big help in the weight loss journey!

Jewel - I think you have a good approach. I've kept looking and thinking and decided that I'll follow WW points on my own and stick with it.
Thanks everbody!
Maybe we could someday have a thread to meet and support those of us who are trying to get rid of some weight. ?
Thanks for your input. I hope we are doing great, stick with it! I'll encourage those are trying from time to time. Encourage me too :D

I thought I'd provide some feedback about my progress www.dietwatch.com. I got my first progress report and it's pointed out that my diet is a little too high in saturated fat (cheese is the main culprit) and that I acctually need a little more unsaturated fat (peanut butter!). It appears that I've lost two pounds but I'm always a little worried about the first couple of pounds just being due to hydration so we'll see.
Monitoring helps me a great deal so whatever method you choose use to monitor - stick with it!
Let's commit to being healthier in 2002!

YEAH!!!!! SusanT !! Whooo Hoooo!! Keep up the great work!!! Wonderful!
You're doing good! :D ok - I'll stop now.
That really is good news. Naw. If you'd lost 5-8 pounds then maybe suspect hydration. But 2 is just right!!!
And guess what? - Me too :) 2 pounds this week.
Yes, that keeping track really makes the difference, doesn't it? I can't lie or forget quite as easily!!
Keep it up:)

Thanks for the encouragement! Congrats on your two pounds as well!
Yes, keeping track is the key - I actually made Bree's Lentil Tomato Soup in my pressure cooker at 9:30 last night so that I could have something lo cal but nutritious to bring for lunch today!
