I just had to know what the heck we'd do at this site so I asked and they told me this:
The brand-new website myclar2002.com is a companion to the 2002 Cooking Light Annual Recipes. It is basically a recipe finder where you can search for any recipe in the 2002 book and search for tips that are in the book. It also has some other really neat features, such as what's in your pantry (tell us what's in your pantry and get recipes that don't require a trip to the store), quick and easy recipes, seasonal menu ideas, quick tip search (you
can search for any tip from the book in a flash!)
You get over 100 additional recipe photos. This site is password protected so you must buy the 2002 book in order to have access to the website.
Something to look forward to when you get your hands on the book.

Thanks for the heads-up. It sounds very cool! I'm going to Sam's Club on Friday to see if they have the new annual. :)

Does anyone have the password to post so we can all sneak a peek? I guess I could go to a bookstore and write it down but I just want to take a peek - after having a subscription I don't really want to fork out the money for the annual. It sounds great though - too bad their regular Recipe Finder doesn't have those functions!

My mom got the 2002 annual for Christmas. I just looked in it and don't see a password. Where is the password supposed to be?

Hmmm...good question about the password location. Here is the email for the woman who wrote me to with the info, try her and let us know what you find out.

I purchased the CL 2002 today at BJ's and for the life of me can not find the password that that we were told to find and use at the new website.:( :(
Here is the email that I received from Lauren Koffler before Christmas as I am one of the BB members whose quote was chosen.
Thank you to all of you who got back with me about using your bulletin
board comments on our website. Just to fill you in a little about the
site...
It is a password protected site exclusively for buyers of the Cooking
Light Annual Recipes 2002 book. The password will be good for one year,
until the next CLAR book comes out with a new password. So, as soon as
you get your copy of the 2002 Annual Recipes, open it up and there
should be an insert with your password.
When you go to the site, please let us know what you think about it. We
are still in the process of working out the kinks we find, and your help
would be much appreciated. There is a place on the site where you can
click to give feedback, and the information you send will be forwarded
dirctly to us.
Thank you all again for your help and we wish you a very merry Christmas.
Lauren Koffler,
Cooking Light
(PS-If you have any specific questions, please send them to
Pamela_Gillum@timeinc.com, as I will be out of the office for a while.)
I had no insert in my Annual and now wondering if they are sending the BB members, whose quotes was used, a free book with password enclosed or maybe just the ones that bought through Oxmoor House will have inserts. Any other thoughts from anyone? I did send an email to Pamela asking where to locate the password and probably won't here from her till the beginning of the week.

I doubt we BBer's who provided quotes will be getting any free books!! When they asked to use my quote, they never asked for my address or anything like that. But it would be nice!!! I hope that perhaps they'll at least give us a free "code" that will allow us to access the site.

I'm somehow thinking that the site will be available even to those not chosen to quote.
Mamasue

Grace...you are right. They didn't ask for address so how would they send them....Duh :D
Sandy....most certainly the web site will be open to everyone. I am sure that the passwords will also be passed around to those who don't purchase one. I know that if someone asked me how to get into the site and they didn't have an 2002 Annual, I would share my password with them. :)
Maybe tonight when I have more time while sipping my tea, I will go through the annual with a fine tooth comb looking for some sort of clue of password. :)

Buying the book from Oxmoor seems pricey. I don't think I paid $30 for last years, but this seems to be the cost this year.

Well....I still see no password in the book. Why do they have to have a password anyway?:(

I got my issue of CL Annual Recipes 2002 at Costco today (for $21.99, if anyone's interested), and I didn't find an insert, or a password, either. Hmmmm......

OK. They misspelled my name, and worse yet, the credited me for a quote I didn't make!!!! I gave permission for them to use my quote for Chocolate Mousse. They credited me with a quote about White Russian Tiramisu (a recipe which I never made in my life!). Oh well. It doesn't really matter.....

I just received an email from Pamela and she said there should have been an insert inside the front cover. There was no insert any where to be found. :) She also mentioned that the password is dinner as SoCal has stated.
Thanks again SoCal. :)

Somehow, Grace, I think it does.......maybe not in the grand scheme of things, but really, a quote is a quote. I'm sorry........

Thanks for the password, what a great site! That recipe finder is fantastic but I am totally confused as to why they would make such a great site and recipe finder for only a select few when the recipe finder on the main CL site sucks so much (has about 3 recipes on it)! It seems they could better serve their readers by making the main site as good as this "invite only" one for a few people.
I will use it lots, thanks again for sharing the password!

I'm sure it's because the site has SOO many (if not all) of the recipes from the 2001 issues (and of course, the 2002 annual), that there would be no incentive for anyone to subscribe to the magazine or buy the book if you can get them all for free on the website. Same reason they don't post all the recipes on this website - they want to entice people with enough great recipes to make them want to subcribe!!
Ms. Chevious
01-07-2002, 03:43 PM
I understand them wanting to make people subscribe but I think that most people who use the site are already subscribers (or how would they know about it?). And what about old recipes - why doesn't the recipe finder have many of those from the past years - are they trying to do a banner business selling back issues or something? I can understand not posting recipes from the current month or even the current year but to have so few of their older recipes seems really silly - they're not losing money by giving out recipes in issues people couldn't buy if they wanted to.
This new site is great and I will use the search feature a lot - but I already have all the 2001 so I'll just go look up the recipe at home, which would be a nice feature for them to offer on other years. Just seems dumb that they are only willing to give the recipes out on a secret site, only accessible by people who already have all the recipes because they bought the book!

How did you find your quote? They got permission to use my White Russian Tiramisu quote and I can't find it.

Thanks for the hug Mamasue.
For the last three years as part of my Christmas presents, my boss has given me a subscription to CL as well as ordered the annuals for me (she is too generous!). The card with the password was included in the 2002 Annual. I know she orders the annuals through CL (Oxmoor House) which is probably why I received the card with the password(?). Anyway, sorry I didn't see this thread sooner or I would have certainly posted the password earlier!

Boy, does THAT ever look like a fun place! :)
I can't wait to get a chance to really play around there! (Laundry can wait... no dinner tonight... mom's BUSY! :) )

I can't see my quote! When I hit the reviews link I just get the CL banner up top and nothing else. Any one else have this problem? And do you wish they'd also put the issue month on each recipe? I also haven't been able to see the latest posts to this thread. What gives? Is it me and my machine?

I thought I had seen your quote on something, I just don't remember what! I didn't have any problem getting to all the reviews. Which dish did they quote you on?

Ralph, it was for the "Quick Vegetarin Chili with Avacado Salsa". Thanks for asking.

Harrummmph. I still can't get it to come up. I get an error message that tells me that "The parameter is incorrect". Thanks anyway to both Ralph and Mamasue for your assistance. It must be my Netscape, it's the only thing I can think of.

And Grace, did they fix your error(s)?
