I really don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but DH and I thought the same way when we heard one was opening up here.
Well we've been there twice and wasen't impressed. Sorry but I can't remember what we got. The food was ok but nothing, IMHO to write home about, and I personally have had much better cheesecake (at lower prices). I prefer a lighter type cheesecake, theirs are very dense.

Most of the entrees are in the $10-15 range. Their portions are enormous so most can be shared.

I'm in the minority here - I don't think their cheesecakes are all that great. IMHO, it's more about quantity than quality there as far as the cheesecakes go. So if you're looking for a huge piece of cheesecake, that's definitely the place to get it. But as far as the taste goes, I've never been very impressed. I can make a better cheesecake.

However, I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Oriental Chicken Salad.

I would love to try their food, but around here, the wait is usually in the hour and a half/two hour range. No cheesecake is worth that!

Another vote for the salads! All of them I have tried have been VERY tasty. I think the lunch portions of the salad are around $7-9 and more than enough. I have always enjoyed the food each time I have been, but have had poor service more than once. Gina

I live almost walking distance to a CCF. I can't say they have fantastic food, but they have a lot of varied dishes. I have some very picky friends that visit and I can please them all with this restaurant. The wait is almost always long, but so are all the other restaurants in this area. I guess I can take it or leave it. Its not my first choice unless I'm with a large group of people with a lot of different tastes. The cheesecakes are ok if you like cheesecake with lots of bells and whistles (choc. chip cookie dough cheesecake??). I should also say that I've never had bad service. Even when there has been a mistake with an order or something was cooked wrong, the staff really seems to go out of their way to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

I do like their Sunday brunch. It is almost never crowded and they have a pretty good roasted veggie omelet. ;)

I've only eaten at this place once, but I loved it! I went to the one in SF when on vacation and we had a fantastic time. We got cheesecake to go and had it for breakfast the next morning. I'm going to the one downtown Seattle in a week or so and I'm hoping it's as good as it was the first time.

I love this place. We have a number of them in LA (I think it originated in LA) and the food is great. Their salads and drinks are fantastic. I actually go there for the food more so than for the cheescake. I am always so full that I hardly ever get the cheescake. their Jambalaya is awesome also.

Gosh! I wish we had one around here. I haven't been in almost 10 years but used to go fairly frequently to the one in Chevy Chase, MD when I spent a semester in college in DC. It was always a big splurge to go . . . a college student's budget does not allow for $15 entrees on a regular basis! I always made my parents bring me there when they came to visit. Anyway, at the time my favorite dish was something with chicken and pasta and spinach . . . I used to love to save some and store it in our little dorm room fridge and heat it up the next day! The wait was always brutal but I loved their White Chocolate Mousse Raspberry cheesecake (I think that was it). Ahh . . . memories, memories!

Of course, who knows. My tastes may have changed enough in 10 years that I am not as wowed as I was back then.

My main problem with the Cheescake Factory is the ads in the menu. I mean, I know restaurants are in business to make money, but those ads just really shove it in your face that they are more interested in the money than the food. As far as the food goes, I don't think its spectacular, but I love that I can go there with DH, who isn't into ethnic foods, and I can get some Thai or Mexican dish, and he can get whatever he wants. I don't think there cheescake is that great either, but I still can't seem to leave there without getting a piece to go.

buddie, I also don't want to dampen the enthusiasm, but the one in Seattle has been open for quite some time. There is always lots of people crowded out front, but when DH and I thought about trying it, I did my usual 'citysearch' and found the reviews were horrible! Quite a few reports of worms in the salads! Check out the Seattle restaurant reviews on citysearch.com

We're still going to try it one day, but we're going to do it for lunch, not a high-priced crowded-house dinner! ;)

i'm actually surprised that so many people aren't so fond of the cheesecake factory. if that's the case, why is it always so crowded?!? we've enjoyed it nearly every single time we've been - good food, large portions, good service, etc. i do enjoy the cheesecake, but it is very rich and we don't usually get any because we are so full from dinner. sometimes we get a piece to share among 4 people or to take home. when we lived in miami, we lived within 5 minutes of 2 cheesecake factories, so we often just did take-out from there if that's what we felt like eating. i think the prices have gone up a bit, but i think everything is still in the $10-15 range. have fun! i'd give you some menu suggestions, but i've tried so many things there and i don't think there's anything that i didn't like! :o

I went there once. It had a nice atmosphere. I only ordered a plain grilled chicken breast and plain steamed white rice. It was as good as any! But like all other restaurants, when you order grilled chicken without any seasoning and without vegetables, sides, sauces or anything else, the portion of chicken is very tiny. But that happens wherever I go. They did give me way too much rice, probably 2 or 3 cups!

Unfortunately, I don't like cheesecake so I can't comment on that.

I still want to try their pasta if it isn't heavy in seasonings, garlic or onion. The hamburgers there smelled fabulous, and I would love to try one. Can anyone comment on either of these?

I wasn't impressed at all with the CCF in Seattle. The wait was horribly long, the wait staff was rude, and the food was average (I had the crab cakes). I waited so long to get served and had such poor service, that I lost interest in ordering dessert. I just wanted to get out of there.

I used to go all the time, too, MEG O'C! Just curious, did you do the semester program at AU? My roomie and I had jobs at the Chevy Chase Pavillion and we would ALWAYS eat at the CCF, even if we couldn't afford it. Food isn't the best, but the cheesecake is worth it!

I've heard, however, that there are like 2,000 calories in each slice of cheesecake, and that even their "light" cheesecake is 1,000 (light when compared to the original, I guess). Anyway, we have one in Boston, but I don't go too often. Too touristy, and not very good food for the money. I guess it's worth checking out if you've never been.
